I know I'm always harping on about this but it really is corrosive to public life that our major media institutions are run by people who do not know how evidence works and cannot distinguish between a real social trend and something their algorithm feeds them on tiktok.

Years ago Sam Smith of Progressive Review said the written word was the most neglected source in American journalism. I've long complained about extensive analysis pieces on some bill full of "proponents say" and "critics say" quotes, without once quoting the actual document...

I do think a lot of British homeowners are struggling to adjust to the fact that their home is simply worth much less than it was a few years ago. In the last 3 decades a lot of people have really accustomed themselves to the idea that property is an investment and they deserve to make money on it
