Adding to this, it does make a big difference what the target audience of a game is. FF7 Rebirth is so much harder to follow and uses more hard kanji than something like Kingdom Hearts or Sonic games. I guess that's been adding to the challenge as well

Side note: I really wish Pokemon games had voice acting. Text only games are definitely harder to get through

I really don't immerse enough. Playing games in Japanese is so helpful but I really don't do it enough. Why is it so hard for me to play games sometimes :( I love doing that but so often I just waste my day away watching Youtube!

its so funny to me that in ff7 there’s this weird forced love triangle between cloud/tifa/aerith but in the remake every single scene with the three of them is tifa and aerith literally holding hands and looking lovingly into each other’s eyes and encouraging and validating each other while cloud is in the background eating the nails out of the floorboards
