I like to imagine that there is a rivalry between two top ham-sniffers: one, a meticulous keeper of precise traditions, the other a brash bad-boy with a colossal nose.

AroVision: Gut Instinct A unique dystopian sci-fi mockumentary from NZ filmmaker Doug Dillaman, cleverly assembled from repurposed archive materials.

Hey, New Zealand, now that you're on holiday get some friends and/or family together and watch my crazy silly found footage sci-fi film GUT INSTINCT on the best system you can find. Have some chewy candies prepared. Ideally some buckets as well. You'll see.

much like fretting over AI’s potential godlike powers is a tacit endorsement of its marketing, AI companies want nothing more than for you to ponder the broad sociological impact of their technology rather than looking at it and saying “this shit sucks and doesn’t work at all and is fake”

Chris Luxon is so shit at the job it's causing people to misremember Chris Hipkins as someone who actually did things. Like calling a Tortoise fast because you're comparing it to a rock.

Even if this is true to some extent, do you think the current mass starvation is justified as an alternative?

Old tweet from Jon Stone which reads "One reason people insist that you use the proper channels to change things is because they have control of the proper channels and they’re confident it won’t work"

I'm ignorant. What does this mean? You have to repay a higher percentage of your wages if you have a loan above $24,128? I have no idea what percentage I'm paying now.

Ok my Leader Lady enamel pin is now up for preorder! It's currently being printed at the factory, and should be shipping out in mid- to late-June. The X's in the mock-up mean those holes will be punched out just like real perfs which I think is gonna look neat!

hard to believe that our public institutions are suddenly behaving in a manner that many many people have been warning is the logical endpoint of a capitalist government for a hundred years

There is something deeply wrong with our country when a young man who knows no other home than this is kicked out, but ‘golden visa’ investors can gain residency with money & a mere 21 days presence over three years.

New poll shows centre-left with enough support to govern The Talbot Mills corporate poll has Labour’s support at 34%, overtaking National on 33%, with Chris Hipkins taking out the top spot as preferred PM.

Hipkins: “Wow. I should do, like, one day’s work in opposition more often!”

In retrospect you can sometimes see traces in someones work that give pause, but I think people get caught up in retrospective analysis to an almost conspiratorial degree. Not everything is a roman-à-clef, some things are just made up regardless if the author themself is good or bad.
