🌎 Thank you to Sen Gustavo Rivera for this @nydailynews.com op-ed today:
"For low-income families and communities of color across NY, the proposed delays and rollbacks to the climate law aren’t abstract policy debates; they risk real and devastating impacts."

This Earth Day, we're calling on our New York State legislators to hold @governor.ny.gov accountable and protect the Climate Law.
Tell Albany: No Climate Rollbacks, at cit.ac/Earth-Day
Gas prices are too high. Utility bills are skyrocketing.
Clearly we need renewable energy now. But Gov. Hochul is trying to gut the 2019 Climate Law that would get us there. Instead, she should work to fully implement the CLCPA for an affordable, renewable energy system that works for all of us.
Thank you @senatorharckham.bsky.social for continuing this fight for an affordable, renewable energy economy for all and defending the CLCPA
Working families showed up in Buffalo with a clear message: tax the rich, stop the cuts, fund our communities. Gov. Hochul MUST choose whose side she’s on.

What makes him think this time will be different?
“That we have Kathy Hochul,” he said. nysfocus.com/2026/04/10/c...

No surprise @governor.ny.gov is unwilling to tax the rich their fair share or make polluters pay to get us to a renewable energy exonomy. She's much more concerned about protecting the extractive, ultra wealthy few than she is about the rest of us.
The costs of high oil prices are widely distributed, while the benefits are concentrated among a few.
In fact, you can think of high oil prices as a redistributor of wealth, away from the American consumer and toward people who work for, and invest in, the oil industry."

In just the 7 years since we passed the Climate Law, there have been 3 global oil and gas crises, skyrocketing prices for heating, electricity, and transportation. Rolling back CLCPA and doubling down on fossil fuel reliance is the opposite of an affordability strategy. gothamist.com/news/ny-ener...

Lewis @_rebeccaclewis [on X] State budget director Blake Washington was insistent to me that the governor had specifics for CLCPA amendments when she released an op-ed with the broad strokes. But he could not or would not answer @m_jfrench's basic question of what emission benchmark Hochul wants for 2040 [Photo of Blake Washington taking questions from the press] 2:29 PM · Apr 1, 2026 · 223 Views
For those trying to understand where things are at in New York’s climate law fight, here’s the latest from @rebeccaclewis.bsky.social on the other site:
Today, April 1st, 450,000 New Yorkers are being informed they will lose health insurance coverage starting July 1st. This isn't an April Fools joke, it's reality. Call upon New York policymakers to protect coverage!
This isn’t a punchline, it’s reality.

Delaying the Climate Law keeps NY hooked to expensive fossil fuels & we are seeing the consequences of that. “Look at the gas pump right now. Look at our heating bills. The current system that we live in is not affordable." @citizenactionny.org via cbs6albany.com/news/local/p...
If @governor.ny.gov was serious about affordability, she'd be following and implementing the 2019 climate law.
Attempting to gut the law, she's showing what she's actually serious about: padding the pockets of the oil and gas billionaires while draining our wallets.

Huge outpouring of New Yorkers from across the state saying NO to @governor.ny.gov behind-closed-doors attempts to gut our climate law. We need to lower our bills, to stop planet-warming pollution in our communities, and renewable energy for all. The climate law does exactly that.
“She needs to release these regulations and put forward a strong policy that does protect our pocketbook and deploys renewable energy,” said Ethan Gormley @egormley.bsky.social, Climate Organizer at Citizen Action.

As @governor.ny.gov spends the day at yet another corporate lobbyist event, NY’s climate movement was right there urging her to abandon her cynical attempt to gut NY’s climate law.
