The Irish get off three frenzied, highly-contested 3-pointers in the final 10 seconds, but they all miss the mark and the Deacs escape with a victory over Notre Dame.

Deacs are likely one stop away from a victory here. Do ya foul up 3?
Yet another phantom foul on Efton Reid and his day is done.
Cam Hildreth has done a terrific job defensively on Burton the last couple of Irish possessions. Deacs are right back in this one.
That's the sixth team foul against ND. Deacs will be in the bonus the final 8:49 of the game.
Starting now, with Hunter Sallis, apparently.
Deacs shooting just 33% from the field and 11% from behind the arc as they trail the Fighting Irish by 5 at intermission.
Deacs probably let their defense be dictated by their offensive woes for a few possessions, and the Irish took advantage. Wake Forest now on an 8-0 run after the Forbes timeout, punctuated by that thunderous Hunter Sallis dunk.
In addition to the woeful field goal shooting, we're halfway through the first 20 minutes and the Irish haven't been whistled for a foul. The Deacs aren't gonna be shooting many free throws this half.
Deacs have started the game just 3-for-14 from the field and trail 12-6 at the second media timeout. Irish have gotten several wide open 3-point looks from the corner, draining just one thus far.
Starting lineups at the Deacs host the Fighting Irish. Nice crowd filling in here at The Joel.
Brutal home loss to UVA for the Demon Deacons.
Lead BACK to 11 with 2:07 to go and Wake Forest fans start to hit the exits.
Excellent finish through contact by Hunter Sallis and the Deacs are making another run.
After that 6-0 UVA run, the Deacs now have just 9:27 left in this game to erase the same 11-point deficit they faced at halftime.
Deacs will be in the bonus the final 11:08 of play. They should attack the paint every possession at this point.
That was a heckuva effort rebound by Efton Reid. Deacs are mixing some zone looks in there defensively. They absolutely have to slow down the UVA 3-point onslaught.
UVA is 6-for-11 behind the arc and lead the Demon Deacons by 11 at intermission, their largest advantage in the game. Wake Forest has a ton of work to do in the next 20 minutes, with huge NCAA Tournament bubble implications.
This home crowd at The Joel trying its best to lift the Deacs out of this deficit.
Nice pass, Cam!
Offensive flow to start this game. The two teams are a combined 12-for-18 from the field thus far, as UVA leads Wake Forest 14-13.
Starting lineups for both teams tonight:
Man, I think Syracuse running NC State outta the gym tonight is about the most predictible result ever.
Here at The Joel just a few minutes from tip. It's been a. . .strange day for Les, but thrilled to be here watching some basketball.
Just an absolute crushing loss for Wake Forest, in a spot where they just simply couldn't afford to take one. The game was completely in control, until it wasn't.
Talk about pressure free throws.
Neither team with a timeout left.
So much for holding for last shot. Deacs attack and Reid gets a quick dunk. Forbes furious he didn't earn a free throw as well. Deacs by 2 with 22.4 to go.
There is a 2.4 second differential between the shot clock and game clock here. The Deacs can't hold for the last shot, but pretty darn close. If they are fouled, it will be just one-and-a-bonus, unless it's a shooting foul.
The Joel crowd definitely had more energy for potential free Reece's than they did free Starry. Can't say I blame em.
Cam Hildreth averages about two buckets a game that seem to completely defy logic.
Impressive first half for the Deacs, who started 3-of-13 from the field before draining 10 of their final 15 shots.
Florida State is just 1-for-11 behind the arc.
