Farage urged to act against candidates with racist, misogynistic and homophobic views Exclusive: Despite pledging the best vetting system for candidates in British politics, some Reform UK candidates have been condemned for posting their ‘grotesque views’ online

Maybe instead of calling for the #PM to resign, #Farage should be staying in his lane and taking decisive action against #ReformUK candidates who express hateful views

The Civil Service also doesn't come out of this debacle well - I'm sure Ollie Robbins is a nice andbwell respected chap, but the disconnect between the Foreign Office and No 10 is stark and one wonders whether the same disconnect applies to other Government departments

TWO things i found on Threads that made me stop and think.

1. Confirmation that the media is biased against Labour and are working actively to bring it and SKS down
2. No surprise. Now imagine how Farage, the media darling, or any of his scummy crew would fare.

Doing something to appease the "special relationship" with the #US (especially an-incoming #Trump Administration) should NEVER EVER be a reason to "rush through" the appropriate "due process" procedures for the appointment of such important personnel.

Whatever way this is "spun", it reflects badly on No 10 and the PM.

Judgement about Mandelson (especially given his previous conduct in previous Governmental roles) on the part of No 10 at the very least would appear to have been lacking.

23 hours ago 0 0 1 0

The whole thing is a sign of arcane Government and Civil Service practices and a failure of Government and Civil Service procedural practice - with blame on both sides from No 10 and from the Foreign Office.

Put quite simply, and considering his previous unseemly conduct in previous government positions and his known somewhat dubious connection to #Epstein #Mandelson should NOT have been viewed as someone appropriate from a security viewpoint to be the #UK's #Ambassador to the #US.

Sacked Foreign Office chief describes 'pressure' from No 10 and 'dismissive' attitude to Mandelson vetting Olly Robbins is giving evidence to MPs after Keir Starmer accused Foreign Office officials of deliberately withholding that Lord Mandelson initially failed security vetting.

Whichever way you view it, the whole debacle over the appointment of #Mandelson is an absolute shite show - both from the #ForeignOffice AND #No10.

#Zarah.Sultana - #YourPartyMP (when she isn't falling out with them) really is a nasty piece of work. Pleased to see here appalling behaviour in the House today has led to her being suspended from Parliament.

There’s a LOT of local government pensioners, and most of them were as far from being a fat cat as you can imagine.

The very last thing the Labour Party needs to do is go down the Tory route of having a revolving door of Prime Ministers at No.10. Just keep with the PM we have - absolutely zero point giving more the opposition what they crave.

Trump Is dooming his party to a midterm blowout It's almost as though he wants Republicans to lose.

New in PN: Trump Is dooming his party to a midterm blowout

"The difference between '18 and '26 is that not only has Trump become even more repellent, his actions have made everything worse. In fact, it’s hard to imagine what more he could do to enrage voters & ensure his party’s defeat in November"

Khanna to Maria Bartiromo: "Barack Obama was a great statesman who left America much safer. I wouldn't put Donald Trump in the same paragraph. Obama actually did his homework ... all Donald Trump did is listen to Netanyahu. That's his entire foreign policy."

Yep, he's made plenty of mistakes, PLENTY, but they have never let up on him, FROM DAY ONE. And yet Johnson's bad behaviour was 'priced in' so HE could do no wrong & yet the man was deemed a security risk by the Foreign Office when May appointed him to Cabinet. FFS...
