Jason Mendoza holding a Molotov cocktail
Manny Jacinto as Jason Mendoza in The Good Place, perfect casting.
“I'm telling you, Molotov cocktails work. Any time I had a problem, & I threw a Molotov cocktail... Boom, right away, I had a different problem.”

@SecWar: The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force.
We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately.

Washington ordered smallpox inoculations for the Continental Army beginning in 1777.
Hegseth, therefore, is taking a mid-18th century, pre-Industrial Age approach to medicine and warfare.

"We lost 13 men"
At least three of these fatalities were women:
♦️Capt. Ariana Savino
♦️Technical Sergeant Ashley Pruitt
♦️Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor
I found this out with about 30 seconds of Googling.
The Commander-in-Chief still doesn't know.

We are so open, in fact, to viewpoint diversity & campus speech & mirror-gazing that we are again, tomorrow, hosting our worst lying authoritarian critics on campus to lie more about all that we do wrong & paying them handsomely to do so. No other societal institutions do this on a regular basis.

I noted yesterday that we would do well to describe what role the actions Trump is performing, rather than assuming he is functioning as President.
Mostly, Trump is an old man retreating into his lifelong hobbies: construction, cons, and corruption. With lots of golf.

"The average IQ in Somalia hovers around 70, and that's the threshold for mentally handicapped ... they're a net drain on the society" -- even by MAGA standards, the unvarnished racism of this interview of Rep. Brandon Gill by Benny Johnson is breathtaking

A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”
Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.

“Winnfield is a hitman, a killer, a man of meaningless violence. He wraps his murders in stylized bible verse imitations to give them some mix of giving them retributional ooomph and just for kicks. Is there any better description of Pete Hegseth?”
Indeed

Two lines of three dimensional sans-serif letters colored in gradients of blue and purple reading ‘Maybe it will/Happen today’. Above the ‘y’ in’ today’ and with its bottom point nestled neatly into the fork of the letter it’s a similarly dimensional golden pentagram with little flares of golden light glinting off its vertices. The entire lockup is superimposed over a glittering rainbow as it all streaks together through a black void.

Headline in today's Guardian that reads "Reading and writing can lower dementia risk by almost 40 percent, study finds. Cognitive health in later life is 'strongly influenced' by lifelong exposure to intellectually stimulating environments, say researchers."
This is why you need to be reading books and writing your own emails, by the way. When you outsource your thinking abilities, you risk turning your brain into soup. Heavy dependence on AI has already been linked with severe cognitive decline. What you don’t use, you will lose.

If you’re feeling like shit, I highly recommend helping out with an elementary school field day because no one loves life more than kindergarten kids run amok. (I am exhausted but fulfilled)

Luigi Mangione murdered a rich CEO whose job was to deny coverage to Medicare Advantage patients. The DOJ is seeking the death penalty.
The gunman who massacred 23 people in a racist attack at an El Paso Walmart was offered a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.
Killing 1 is worse than 23? WTF?

If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than:
Tesla
Southwest
Disney
Live Nation
HP
United
PayPal
CVS Health
Palantir
Citigroup
PG&E
3M
That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax.
It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.

The kids these days will hardly believe it, but a mere two years ago, the mental & physical (lack of) acuity of Elderly Presidents was the Great Issue of Our Time. Someone should tell Jake Tapper & Alex Thompson, so they can write a book on it.

I got one today. Googled the person and can't really find any info (which is odd). They do have a Goodreads page, but that doesn't mean anything. I'm thinking of replying "yes" to see what the actual scam is. My guess is that we have to "pay" for reviews.
