Correction—one containerized district in each borough by end of year.
Posts by Max Rivlin-Nadler
3 pledges from Mamdani today:
—government-owned grocery stores in all 5 boroughs by end of term, first one in Spanish Harlem next year.
—citywide trash containerization in a neighborhood in each city council district by the end of the year, full containerization by 2031.
—huge rapid bus buildout.
Special surprise guest, Bernie Sanders. Comes out to Back in Black, a throwback to his comeback rally in Queensbridge with AOC. Mamdani canvassed for his initial insurgent assembly campaign at that rally.
Mamdani briefly mentions taxing the rich before transitioning to touting the accomplishments of the first 100 days.
“Pothole politics is our 2026 answer to sewer socialism.”
Mamdani takes the stage after a video montage paying tribute to city workers. Hype video also plays up Mamdani’s commitment to democratic socialism. After taking the stage, he reiterates: “I was elected as a democratic socialist and I will govern as a democratic socialist.”
First two speakers are a DOT employee (first female pothole repair crew chief), and now a tenants union in Queens.
I’m at the Mamdani first 100 days address at the Knockdown Center in Queens and they’ve got street vendors, DSNY workers, a city store, and a museum of his first 100 days???
Sunday afternoon in Tompkins, food not bombs, dance party, man eating an entire Costco chocolate rabbit for virality
Sanders with his closing message to Hochul—listen to the polling, listen to the people.
Bernie now on stage, thanks New Yorkers for electing Zohran Mamdani mayor.
Mamdani continues to stay away from direct public confrontation with Gov. Hochul over the tax issue and is not appearing today.
At Lehman College in the Bronx, 100s of people have packed the auditorium to rally for Gov. Hochul to pass taxes on the wealthy.
Bernie Sanders will be speaking shortly, but first local DSA electeds are warming up the crowd.
Hochul has remained opposed to tax increases during budget negotiations.
Not even saying this from the weakened Anthropocene mindset. I think it is historical standard to look around in mid-March and say enough of this shit!!!!
It’s official: Winter has gone on too long

If just these 2:37 of this film existed, it should still win Best Picture.
That is my Oscar commentary for this year, good luck all!

Anyways this a local operation run by some cool young dudes, support along with other locally-owned grocery stores! evgrieve.com/2026/02/new-...
Lololol NYC we cannot just be normal about opening up a new grocery store
Nick has become suspicious that this is all an elaborate ruse by everyone at Hell Gate to see if he can be driven insane covering the minutiae of this completely bonkers legal drama involving missing escrow money & the alleged machinations of the former head of BK Dems and all I can say is "maybe"
PARTIALLY SATISFIED
I demand satisfaction from both the NYT and NBC New York.
(Yes, this is kinda annoying but smaller publications have to fight for shit like this.)

It's important to continue to innovate and over at @hellgatenyc.com we take that to heart.
A.I. is here and it's going to change EVERYTHING.
Also gambling is here and it's going to change EVERYTHING.
Also, some other shit is here and you're fired.

ah oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Industry is so funny because it started out as "what if currency traders doing cocaine was fun to watch" and ended with "what if instead of meeting Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell had a cool, only slightly evil friend"
If you read one piece about Snowball-gate make it this piece, because it gets at the heart of what Mayor Mamdani cannot avoid for much longer—a direct confrontation with the NYPD, or admitting that the elected leader of NYC has no power over it.
Just underneath the absurdity lies one of the most volatile fault lines in city politics: The rift between elected government on the one hand, and the political power of the NYPD and the constellation of interests with which it is aligned on the other.

You're laughing? Several cops from the NYPD's 6th Precinct in Manhattan were pelted with snowballs, absolutely creamed in a barrage of icy missles by participants of a staged snowball fight contentfest in Washington Square Park.... and you're laughing?

POV: You shouldn’t have smoked that shit because now you’re waking up in the Tompkins Square Park igloo
