Phantasy Star III OST ~ Megido & Grantz
Phantasy Star III OST ~ Megido & Grantz YouTube video by Lucas Cavalcante

Ah yes, and the music of course. Izuho "Ippo" Numata wrote an amazing score and being able to interview her (albeit only in writing) for the Mega Drive Pixelbook was an absolute joy. So, happy 36. birthday, Phantasy Star III! youtu.be/bVgmTstlVKo?...

... on sale and of course bought it. At that point, I was a fan for life. I later bought my own Phantasy Star III, got part 1 for Master System and of course devoured IV. But well... I will always have a soft spot for Phantasy Star III. It´s weird and flawed. But that's why I like it so much.

... with it. I didn't make much progress. But learning about leveling or being amazed how much more efficient I was once Mieu (still one of my favorite RPG-characters) joined... what a (short) trip! That simple incident awoke my interest in RPGs. A bit later, I found a copy of Phantasy Star II...

...he picked that game, it turned out he got it mixed-up with Thunder Force III. Ah well. So we gave it a try and it was a transformative experience. Music, story, turn-based battles... who knew games could do that? So we played the unwanted rental and I spent the whole weekend...

Storytime! Sometime in late 1991, I had a Mega Drive and was happy. Sonic, Castle of Illusion... all the fun stuff. Then one day, a friend went to a video rental place and brought back... Phantasy Star III? I was suprised, to say the least. Neither of us played an RPG before and when I asked why...

... still swear by M2s SEGA AGES 29: Monster World Complete Collection - this one runs in beautiful 240p on a CRT and is also one of the more affordable (good) Sega Ages releases. Very glad I bought it back in the day. Also, this is the game that made me notice M2 as a developer for the first time!

40 years ago today, Westone's Wonder Boy hit japanese game centers - it's Westone's and Sega's arcade-y answer to Super Mario Bros., and the start of a very prolific (and sort-of complicated) series. The easiest way to play today is the Wonder Boy Collection out on all current systems. I, however...

Hello! I live in Venezuela, a country with severe international restrictions, even on buying a Godot Plushie. I love Godot, so I asked my mother, who is a novice seamstress, to make me a Godot Plushie, and I am delighted with the result! Although it's not exactly the same, I am super happy with it, and it's the best gift I've ever received in my life ❤️

My sister started joking around, calling him Fatot 😆

Man, that asshole Jim Ryan certainly fucked everyone over royally, didn't he? The damage he caused is still keenly felt today.

When I played Super Mario Land for the first time SO many years ago, the game felt huge, imposing and challenging. I gave it another go and finished it in less than half an hour. But it was a fun time. It´s wild how much muscle memory is still present and Hip Tanaka's soundtrack is SUCH a banger!

With the Neo Geo all over the news these days, I took something out of my NG Cart collection. I'm not really into sports games, but Super Baseball 2020 is a HUGE exception. It's fast, fun, arcade-y and looks great. Really glad I bought this for a good price back in the day.

Da ist durchaus eine Linie da. Wobei der Beschützer-Aspekt da schon sehr unterschiedlich ausgeprägt ist. Und Handholding ist ja nicht sofort der (Sad) Dad Aspekt.

Cool that girls have to grow up hearing “Don’t dress/act slutty! You’ll attract predators!” and now they also get to grow up hearing “Don’t dress/act cute! You’ll attract lolicons!”

Here’s an idea, the people with the bad thoughts can fuck right off.

Nix ausser Story, Story, Story, Sad Dad (in gefühlt jedem dritten Satz). Grauenhaft.

That's pretty cool!!

If that was the original, that would be pretty neat.

Yep, they´re clear about that. But they also mention an AV-connector without giving too much specifications on that one.

That NeoGeo AES+ is a pretty interesting concept. I have questions though; it's explicitly stated, that original carts run on the new system. But will new carts and the new memory card also work with the original? And even more important: Will it support RGB? We´ve seen no connector-pics so far...

40 years ago today, young Samurai Takamaru started his journey into The Mysterious Murasame Castle on Famicom Disk System. It's one of Nintendo's lesser known games and was only brought west only recently on Switch. I love FDS-games and I´m always amazed that they still work after all those years!

That's why I dislike it so much. That and this "FINALLY games are telling a worthwile Story"-attitude. It's nothing special - it's a bog-standard zombie-yarn combined with heaps of misery-porn on a high budget.
