Me and a video game I love.
My brother and I would consistently rent this game from Blockbuster. It was our go to game.

I’ve been watching the show Cross on Amazon Prime. And it really got me in the mood to read the books. It’s interesting to go back and read this. Loved the mystery and excited to keep going down this series rabbi hole.

The finale to the four part Thezmarr series. I really enjoy this world and especially Althea. Great supporting cast. This book really takes it there and brings the story to a very satisfying end.

Now this one was fun. Maybe I’m a just a nerd, but I love books that delve into the science. And boy does this one have science. And heart. Absolutely one of my top reads so far this year.

It’s the return of our local Drink & Draw and tonight I drew @snekofvoldun.bsky.social’s OC, Valthiss!
It’s always fun to get a chance to try my hand at other people’s characters.
I hope I did them justice!

A very cartoony drawing of a punk rock Frankenstein’s monster. The picture is mostly black and white with a pop of yellow and red for the eye

I truly love this series. Bree is such a strong and amazing character. And this book made me fall in love with her all over again. I love the way Tracy threads myth and legend between history to tell such a beautiful story. I am absolutely sat for book 4.

Blood at the Root by LaDarrion Williams
This may be too early to say this, but BatR is probably going to be one of my top books for 2026. LaDarrion creates such a beautiful magical world with characters that feel so real. There are more books in this series and I can’t wait to read them
I’ll let this blurb speak for itself:
“Kiara's boyfriend, James—childhood love and the one she was certain she’d spend forever with—is dead. The news shatters her life.
Except, now, he wants to talk to her.”
My Dearest Monster by Sean Fletcher

My Dearest Monster by Sean Fletcher
I had the privilege of meeting Sean at DragonCon. And wow he has created such an interesting world in this book.
I also want to give a special shout out to Jessica Threet for her stellar audiobook narration.

This one is an intense ride. This Southern Noir follows Titus Crown, the first Black Sheriff in Clarion County VA, as he hunts for a killer and wades through the town’s dark history.
Absolutely loved it. Definitely check the trigger warning though.
I’m going to start a thread for all the books I read this year. I’m always looking for new recommendations.
If you’ve read any of these I’d love to chat about them.
