I remember a trainee teacher had to follow me all day, rather than a pupil - between 8.00am and 6.00pm (when they asked if they could go, as i was still busy!), they said there was only 10 minutes on the day when I wasn't busily engaged - and that was a long time ago!

That raises quite profound questions for history teachers, the nature, purpose and possibility of history
The Amesbury Archer is such an interesting way into prehistory - raises so many questions
the entirety of the british press talked themselves into believing this woman is trans based almost entirely on JK Rowling's judgement of the athlete's appearance.
Also means a deprofessionalisation of the work force. Who needs trained teachers if you are told what needs to be given and are provided with the script for a lesson
Absolutely brilliant book - one of those with the power to transform practice - I don't understand why its principles are not applied more widely.
Absolutely - one of my three classroom 'rights' was to be stuck. As soon as someone, newly arrived in Y7, said they were 'stuck', I would pause the class and we would applaud them for being stuck, as it was an opportunity to learn something. It really helped create a positive learning culture

Do take in Warkworth castle if you can (and haven't already) - it is fabulous
That is such a cool place
Just finished 'In a dark wood wandering' by Hella Haasse which was fabulous. Set in early C15th France and the political up upheaval of the time.
I love the MERL @themerl.bsky.social - lovely staff, unusual collections and fab cafe
I remember when teachers had to invigilate one of our favourite games to pass the time was to play pac man around the exam hall - no running allowed of course
At least you may have enjoyed some music 😁
Is the marking going any better?
I always find Thomas Tallis helps in such moments
This meeting condemns the Supreme Court ruling defining the term 'woman' with respect to the Equality Act as being based on 'biological sex', which they refer to as a person who 'was at birth of the female sex', as reductive, trans and intersex-exclusionary and biologically nonsensical. We recognize as doctors that sex and gender are complex and multifaceted aspects of the human condition and attempting to impose a rigid binary has no basis in science or medicine while being actively harmful to transgender and gender diverse people. As such this meeting: i. Reiterates the BMA's position on affirming the rights of transgender and non-binary individuals to live their lives with dignity, having their identity respected. ii. Reminds the Supreme Court of the existence of intersex people and reaffirms their right to exist in the gender identity that matches their sense of self, regardless of whether this matches any identity assigned to them at birth. Condemns scientifically illiterate rulings from the Supreme Court, made without consulting relevant experts and stakeholders, that will cause real-world harm to the trans, non-binary and intersex communities in this country. iv. Commits to strive for better access to necessary health services for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people.
Explosive response of the British Medical Association to the Supreme Court's "biologically nonsensical" ruling: "We recognize as doctors that sex and gender are complex and multifaceted aspects of the human condition and attempting to impose a rigid binary has no basis in science or medicine".
I have always found Erika's Story to be deeply moving and profound
This is a really useful post for teachers to be aware of
Just published, my blog post on the FGEN website. In part a big chapeau to @katymontgomerie.com for her thoughts on here earlier today, which inspired some of it.

I think it was Denis Shemilt who once said that progress in history is moving from one misconception to a slightly less bad misconception 😁
I remember melting one
Fabulous - more than happy 😊
...and your conclusion is ....? Absolute cliffhanger- I want to know 😁
I remember James Bank writing that any so-called balanced approach is highly political - someone's "neutral" position is someone else's "biased" argument. I feel we are better being open about our values poisitions
I cannot believe I have never visited Chepstow Castle until now. This window and the carving is just absolutely beautiful
