Why does the Australian Government prioritise foreign owned gas corporations over Australians?

Japanese gas giant INPEX:
- exports more gas than NSW, Vic and SA use combined
- pays no royalties or petroleum tax
- pays virtually no corporate tax

Hey Australians

If the Albanese Government hadn't been letting the gas industry rip us off since 2022, we could have had:
💰Free TAFE and university, or
💰Free universal childcare, or
💰$2,500 each

Bummer!

WELD Australia CEO Geoff Crittenden adds his voice to support for a 25% tax on gas exports.

"If a 25% tax on gas exports gives us $17 billion a year to invest, then the real question is not whether we can afford to act. It’s whether we can afford not to."

This conflict is likely to drive global gas prices through the roof.

Because the Australian Government gives most of our the gas to Big Gas exporters for free, and the PRRT is broken, Big Gas will make massive windfall profits and Australians will get virtually nothing.

Economist Chris Richardson on the PRRT

"We made a mistake in the economics as we set it up and, as it changed from oil to gas, that mistake became a fatal mistake."

That was 38 YEARS AGO...our governments have been literally giving our gas away ever since

Finally an Australian Parliamentary inquiry proposed into why Australian governments have been giving away Australia's gas to multinational gas corporations FOR FREE.

Will the major parties who have been giving the gas away for decades support it?

OK, so now virtually all the Independents, the Greens and One Nation support taxing the gas industry more in line with the majority of Australian voters.

Only Labor and the Coalition seem happy ignore voters and let Big Gas keep ripping Australians off.

Japan is on-selling even more gas than it imports from Australia … at a profit!

Gas that our government mostly GIVES THEM FOR FREE

They now on-sell 1.7X more gas than they import from Australia.

Meanwhile Aussies left short and paying through the nose.

Do beer drinkers pay more tax than gas companies?
Yes, they do!

Beer excise > PRRT
Beer drinkers' income tax > gas company income tax

While coal and gas companies are making millions in profits from burning fossil fuels, it's our communities footing the bill for climate disasters.

A climate disaster levy would make polluters pay for the damage they cause!
