Indeed. I’m going to try and add ideas from the Bard’s Tale Remaster‘s automapping. I think they handled teleports, darkness and spinners really well. Better than the Wizardry Remaster, but I think that one was a solid attempt too.
I feel like auto mapping is going to be expected, but I might offer a turn it off setting for people if they want it.
Ha. more I’m seeing lots of Ultima clones out there. Good ones too! Even not so good ones that are still fun!

Today’s struggle: for 40 years I’ve been working on getting my skills and resources to a point where I’m ready to make my dream game. Now that I am I realized that game isn’t what I want anymore.

Devastated to hear that @burgerbecky.bsky.social has lost her battle with cancer. I was lucky enough to be her roommate at KFest 2016 and was amazed by her knowledge and her vivaciousness! She will be deeply missed by all those her life touched. She is in Valhalla tonight!

I started solving the debate between me and other peole by stepping behind them and saying “let’s put a stick on the back of your head, which way do I push to look down” they always go “oooohhhh… I still like the other way.“. Cool. But now you know why we need this.

It amazes me how little conformity there is for settings menus. I'm looking to standardize my games on something and we literally don't have any sort of 'normal' for what should be happening. #indiedev #gamedev
