We are looking at a painting of St Liphardus - a 6th-century lawyer, hermit and abbot in Meung-sur-Loire near Orléans, France. He is wearing bishops clothing including a surplus and mitre and is holding a crook. On a lead is a small knee high green and blue dragon.

My son had a friend at school whose parents banned him from having a phone. Pretty much every afternoon the mum would ring me wondering where my son was and asking me if I'd call him to ask him where her son was and there's your problem.

This is the 2020s not the 1980s.

Sorry, you’re telling me that something that doesn’t feel pain, doesn’t have lactic acid build up, doesn’t need adequate hydration or electrolytes, doesn’t need to pee, and doesn’t get tired is only 6 minutes faster than humans?

you’ve fucked up a perfectly good Roomba.

The 5p Solution: How clean air is transforming attendance and learning in one Hampshire school Generations of pupils have learned in stuffy classrooms filled with recycled air, but a Hampshire school is now breathing new life into the way lessons are taught.

You know what would actually move the needle on both attendance and performance?

CLEAN THE AIR

There is actual evidence that improved air quality has real, measurable, and significant positive effects on learning.

A rectangle colour linocut. The dominant colour is yellow, which is used for the platform & walls & ceiling of an underground train station, lit as they are by electric light. Shadows in the form of triangles of green reappear across the picture. The platform curves from far left to a dark tunnel two thirds of the way towards the picture’s right hand edge. At the platform is a curving red train. At its head is a worker on the platform signalling to it. The train is full of silhouettes of passengers. The platform is empty of them.

Cis people: just nip over to your GP to feel a little perkier by taking some T.
Trans people: just spend 5 years on a waiting list, go through a few psychiatric assessments, and if you survive that then you might get a prescription for exactly the same HRT.

This is a real issue in humanities and social sciences. Often all that is needed for such work is buyout (i.e. time) and maybe some travel. But grant pots are formed at either low figures that exclude buyout or very high figured aimed really at big multi-person projects.

There was an incident when a staff member of a well-known London university had to attend an immigration tribunal to contest the Home Office's assertion that they weren't a 'genuine' institution. The judge accepted their appeal as the judge had received their own law degree from said institution.

So, the Home Office gets it wrong (this happens a lot and they're vicious about it). And then, they get to punish universities for that incompetence? What's next, another 'surcharge'? How many is that now, like 3? Robber Barons.

The Darts Regulation Authority has banned transgender women from competing in its women's events with immediate effect.
The DRA, which governs the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), said "only biological females should be eligible to compete in women's tournaments regulated by DRA Rules".
It comes after the DRA completed a review of its Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which began in 2025.
Noa-Lynn van Leuven, who in 2024 became the first transgender woman to compete in the PDC World Championship, said the decision had "effectively retired her".
She remains eligible to play in open tournaments for men and women.

Looks like they’ve banned trans women from playing darts now of all things. Comes to something too when BBC Sport are quoting Sex Matters, and the DRA has commissioned noted transphobe Emma Hilton to helm a report for them. It’s a stitch-up, and it’s disgusting.
