does anyone else who struggles with fathers/mother’s day struggle more with the influx of “don’t want our emails” emails than they do the actual emails themselves?? or just me

i wish they would take out the elimination :( but i guess in this case they literally never would have caught up so they kind of had to do it. it’s even more annoying when everyone is close together and we lose a couple for the sake of an hour or a few mins

i don’t want to lose the cute divorced couple :( but surely there’s no other way #RaceAcrossTheWorld

I absolutely hate it every season

mayyybe that would make sense but so often the couple that was 5th for ages manages to sneak in and someone else goes and it feels super unfair and unnecessary to the plot of the show

one of my favourite #RaceAcrossTheWorld things is when they all run off from the start line as if 1) they know where they’re going 2) aren’t racing for many weeks

I’ve been nudged by the production team for the ‘Great British Sewing Bee’ to say they are looking for ND / disabled folk for the next series of the show.

Kidlit colleagues, just a reminder that JK Rowling *funded* this challenge over the definition of women at the Supreme Court. Every time you choose to work with her, platform her, take a stance that aligns with her, buy her books, nominate her for more awards, she uses that and funds hate.

as horrible as the cuts are, I enjoyed writing this one - my dissertation was on social reproduction theory so bringing that back out was really interesting!

At the heart of every attack on disability benefits is the myth disabled people “get perks”: a free car, loads of cash, a life off work. It misrepresents the reality of disability, whilst exploiting low wages and high living costs to make the public envy people in daily pain.

guess who’s part of the meta scrape! very upsetting as an anti-AI author. libgen is a useful resource and I’d honestly rather people had the info in my book than not but that’s not the same as a scrape this huge for thousands of authors

Demonising disabled people is not a moral duty As the government unveils its benefit reforms, including tightening who receives the PIP (Personal Independent Payment), disabled journalist Charli Clement says there will be unintended consequences

“Under the rule of the Conservatives, I felt under threat… But, even after all of that, I’ve never felt as dehumanised as I do now, under Labour’s current rhetoric and reforms.”

a reminder that disabled people who chose to live with their partners, as all people should have the right to do, no longer qualify for any out of work benefits. their only crumb of financial independence is PIP. women trapped in abusive relationships under these circumstances have little to no hope

yes and one of the MP questions listed how many categories you could need a decent level of support in but never qualify for PIP because of this and she said that wasn’t what it meant - but it does.

Austerity with a red rosette is not the “change” people voted for.

it is absolutely wild that IPSO doesn’t protect from statements like this, I’m actually so done

sorry - UK government is currently announcing horrific reforms to our disability benefits system and it’s 99% about working

1 year ago 3 0 1 0

can’t believe someone just said that those w mh needs should only be able to do “socially useful work” for benefits - what a horrific double standard and a true notion of the ideas of eugenics that this society holds

1 year ago 4 0 0 0

it would really be nice for someone to actually acknowledge that pip isn’t an out of work benefit actually :)
