The Trump budget once again proposes to eliminate NOAA OAR, which brings you the CO₂ Keeling Curve. In this piece, I argued that the Keeling Curve is a treasure that belongs to humanity as the most poignant indication of our impact on the environment and as a testament to our ability to document it.

New World Happiness Report is out. Canada's rank has fallen to 25th overall (from 6th in 2013). More alarmingly, we're now 71st in happiness for 15-24 year olds.

Anglo-American countries score particularly poorly on youth happiness, but Canada is particularly struggling.

Canadians’ right to know is under threat | The Narwhal Across Canada, governments are making it harder and harder for journalists to find out what’s happening behind closed doors

The Ontario government wants to keep Premier Doug Ford’s communications a secret.

It plans to seriously restrict what journalists and the public can ask for in freedom of information requests — including by blocking emails and call logs for top politicians.

People are now using so much fresh water amid the consequences of climate change that we're in an era of water bankruptcy, with many regions no longer able to bounce back from frequent water shortages. ⬇️

The world is entering “water bankruptcy,” UN researchers warn — draining rivers, aquifers and glaciers far faster than nature can replace them.

With 4 billion people already facing seasonal water scarcity, scientists say the crisis is now one of irreversible damage, not shortage alone.

Sometimes, other fields can learn from CS/tech. more often, CS/tech needs to STFU and listen to other fields.

The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For ‘doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

A Truth is a post that you share to those following you. A Truth can be a comment, image, or video and can contain links to other content. Using Truths on Truth Social you can share your thoughts, photos, videos, memes, links, and more. You’ll quickly get the hang of it!

Dans ce contexte-ci, je ne pense pas que Mark Carney utilisait "truth" dans le sens de vérité, mais plutôt pour désigner les commentaires sur Truth Social: help.truthsocial.com/truth-social...

I am a climate scientist and this is correct.

As the planet warms, storms like the one today are getting stronger… and as the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the mid latitudes, it increases the risk of the “freezer door” swinging open.
