Rolling back NY's Climate Law will do nothing to reduce costs, because it isn't the cause of rising costs. The oil and gas status quo created the affordability crisis, and cheap, quickly-deployable renewables, storage, and efficiency will get us out of it. spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-...
And guess what? The Governor is manufacturing a crisis while real NYers suffer from higher and higher bills due to GAS. The legislature needs to focus on reducing energy bills, not the Guv’s red herring.
Now more than ever we need local solutions to clean up pollution.
Join the @electrifyny.bsky.social coalition for a happy hour in Williamsburg, where we’ll discuss policies New York leaders can implement to build a modern goods movement system that doesn’t pollute our air.

New York’s reliance on gas is driving energy bill hikes - @governor.ny.gov pursuit of more gas will make it worse. Read my words via @lohud.com here: www.lohud.com/story/opinio...
I wrote in @vitalcitynyc.bsky.social about how the real estate lobby has attacked NYC’s “Green New Deal” law, Local Law 97 — and @ZohranKMamdani’s support for it.
He should fully implement and enforce it:
✅ lower utility bills
✅ good jobs
✅ less pollution

Off to a rough start today. Wrote "principal" instead of "principle" in an email.
It will be especially crucial for @governor.ny.gov and the Legislature to bolster funding for climate and environment:
➡️ minimum $1B for the Sustainable Future Fund to cut energy costs and reduce climate pollution
➡️$500M for the Environmental Protection Fund
➡️$500M minimum for water infrastructure
An easy one to protect communities from rapidly expanding e-commerce mega warehouses is the Clean Deliveries Act. This bill would lead to cleaner air and less traffic - building upon the success of programs like Congestion Pricing and stepping up where the federal govt is failing.
On the topic of potential federal rollbacks, there’s a bill to codify federal requirements to replace all lead service lines in NY. This is a common sense policy to adopt. Lead service lines is the greatest source of lead in drinking water, and no level of lead is safe.
If the Assembly needs a list of topics to cover, I’ve got them. To start: the legislature should protect ratepayers from large energy hogs that drive up energy costs - data centers and crypto miners. There’s a number of great bills to tackle those issues.
Speaker Heastie includes in his opening address the importance of environmental protections and climate action, particularly in the face of federal rollbacks and science denialism.
We are so back (opening day of NY’s legislative session)
Tremendous win for ratepayers! Thanks to @governor.ny.gov @joannesimonbk52.bsky.social @lizkrueger.bsky.social, New Yorkers will see $600M in savings ANNUALLY! It's a win-win for our wallets and the climate!
@governor.ny.gov has ONE DAY left to lower our energy bills.
Repeal the 100 foot rule NOW!
Via @nytimes.com: @governor.ny.gov has spent the past year running away from energy affordability and climate.
Today 200 people will be in Albany calling on the Governor to take a step in the right direction by signing the 100’ rule. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/11/n...

You won’t want to miss this conversation! I’ll be discussing the alarming decisions the Governor made recently to benefit oil and gas industry CEOs instead of cutting energy costs for everyday New Yorkers. Tune in!

Hey, happy climate week! Just dropping by to say that "all of the above energy" is the "not all men" for politicians looking to defend their pro-fossil fuel agenda! Weird that they never use that phrase to defend decisions for renewables, right?!
ICYMI: Last week, the Senate voted to attack state rights and clean air protections. Statement f/ @earthjustice.org @righttozero.bsky.social calling on @nyassemblymajority.bsky.social @nysendems.bsky.social to protect NYers by passing the Clean Deliveries Act ASAP. earthjustice.org/press/2025/a...
BREAKING: Republican Senators just broke the Senate's rules in an unlawful maneuver to overturn states' zero-emissions cars standards – a major overreach on states' rights to clean their air.
Make no mistake about it – they've only gained a temporary setback in the clean energy transition.
📣 We need lawmakers to pass #NYHeat to make energy more affordable and help us move off fossil fuels.
Join a rally this Friday from 1-2 at the 96th Street subway station to make your voice heard.

As the federal administration moves at a breakneck pace to destroy public protections, which will only raise costs and worsen health for NYers, baby steps aren't enough. We are counting on the NYS Legislature to demonstrate leadership on critical climate, environment, and public health protections.
A particularly notable absence was funding and policy to cut energy bills and tackle rate hikes for New Yorkers. The solution is the #NYHEAT act. All eyes are on @nyassemblymajority.bsky.social to finally deliver for their constituents. The clock is ticking: earthjustice.org/press/2025/n...
We offer a chart on a number of climate and environmental initiatives in the budget, where you can compare the final budget to what was offered by the Senate and Assembly: earthjustice.org/press/2025/e...
ICYMI: Last week, the #NYSBudget was finally completed. The verdict on climate and environment? Baby steps forward in some areas. Check out the full @earthjustice.org statement: earthjustice.org/press/2025/e...
This is why the NYS legislature shouldn’t hesitate to pass the Clean Deliveries Act - a common sense bill that addresses a regulatory gap that allows for unchecked pollution from mega-warehouses.
