A screenshot of clearsky, showing that the bluesky staff member, who goes by Why, has subscribed to only one blocking list, one made by a known troll that searches for users that are against ai and add them to this moderation list. Why @why.bsky.team Blocking 310,708 total users via lists @antiantiai.bsky.social Anti "Anti-AI" Labeler 3 hours ago AI Haters Subscribes to anti-AI blocklists or otherwise seems poorly disposed for productive conversations.
Lmao when a staff member subscribes to a block list made by a troll account and ends up blocking 310,700+ users, all because the majority of the users of bluesky hold the rational opinion that ai is total shit and shouldn't be used for any reason.
Ai is ruining the site, and the world.
Fuck ai.
Those guys calling themselves true Torah Jews?
Yeah they study Talmud and its commentaries.
Torah Jew means something specific in the Jewish community, not that they aren’t part of the rabbinic tradition.
They’re quoting a book from the 1890s that was written by a guy who literally couldnt read the Talmud so he made up his own translations
The reason they're doing it is because with Iran controlling the strait they can allow friendly ships to go through which means they're making money, meaning they have more incentive to continue so they're cutting that money off. But it costs the Iranians millions and the US billions
If it fails it's missiles that could be used elsewhere, could lead to a bigger flare up during a period where they are trying to create a draw down with ceasefire negotiations. Plus the American blockade doesn't do anything except cost the US more money because no oil + operational costs
Don’t forget that the US wouldn’t stop attacking Iranian shipping so the Iranians started firing on ships trying to leave the strait
I just wish I was the kind of person who could kick my cat. But she knows I'm a weak bitch who doesn't have it in me so she's going to keep annoying me forever

Wait there was a ceasefire? But none of the firing ceased
The greatest American conflict was the Civil War and Revolutionar War,, and so the United States Army is going to return to disease being the main killer of soldiers
I mean thats sort of what the warrior ethos thing is about, completely disconnecting the professionalism and military science of an army with the ritualistic violence of a warrior band
I have heard the theory that it’s so basic because the kinds of people who would be commanding an army and the kinds of people who have never thought about where their next meal is going to be coming from
I wish my incurably repressed homosexuality got me a 6 figure income with a job where I was basically just on holiday all year round
It's great fascist symbology because it's all about murdering people indiscriminating, actively damaging your intended goals (devastating the Byzantine Empire and doing nothing to help restore their territory) and then losing so fucking hard
I had some time alone without my computer so I watched Digital Circus, and yeah, it's honestly pretty good. I'm a sucker for mysteries
I've heard this a couple of times before, and people just seem to get angry when you explain that the coalition includes people they narratively approve of, like the Old Yishuv or Mizrachim or Orthodox Jews - all people represented in part by Shas who coalition with Likud
Because Netanyahu is Secular, but he has Orthodox and Secular parties, Ashkenazi and Sephardi parties. Old and New Yishuv parties all in his coalition. They don't know that say, Israel is a state with mandated Orthodox Primacy over Reform but still see the Orthodox as an anti-Israel cohort
Another example of the struggle to cohere religious antizionism, religious Zionism, and contemporary Israeli ideas within a Christian brain.
The Haredim study Torah & Talmud, it's a pillar of majority Judaism. People try to comprehend the weird alliance of Israels right wing coalition
Guy who has only heard of the Protestant Reformation. No, the big ideological tumult was about secularization, emancipation, and the enlightenment. Once Jews became citizens of a country & not resident aliens at the pleasure of a king, it disrupted the age communal relationships/structures Jews had
Like it's the reason that the Misnagdim were so concentrated in the North around Lithuania and the Hassidim spread in the south in Ukraine, because the wealthy trade city Jews were able to afford Yeshiva, whereas the Hassidim built communal strategies around religious and educational access
Lmao. These people have this idea about the Torah, Talmud and the Ultra Orthodox, when the Talmud is a central part of why the Hassids gained popularity after it's founding. The Misnagdim and Hassidim divide is about access to Talmudic learning by location and class.
Tragically it's the best they can muster. Just in an American/Anglosphere context everyone is trapped in the perspective of cultural Christianity because it's in the background of everything, from media we consume to how the economy is organized. It's why even Atheists struggle to Dechristianize
After thinking about this some more, I think there are really two things going on here that interact in weird ways. One is the background radiation of Protestantism that influences everything in this country, and the other is the misinterpretation of Jewish terminology when non-Jews see it.
They don't talk about Karaites because it requires a degree of understanding and curiosity which they reject because it does not fit into what are effectively wartime narratives about the enemy and how Judaism and Jewishness fits within their non-Jewish perspective
Like my Grandfather rejects the Talmud, but is a strong Religious Zionist and I was raised in the context of Religious Zionism. These outsiders can't comprehend it, which is why they rely on the observable tokenism of Religious Antizionism to create a narrative that makes sense to them.
Like the "Torah Jew" thing helps confuse them, they try to understand Hasidism and its relationship to Zionism, Scripture, and how Israel conceives of a cohesive structure idea of Judaism and the State. They assume it's a rejection of the Talmud, even though Satmar/NK get their narrative from it
I think its important for non-Jews to understand that despite having this idea about Judaism, Israel, Torah and Talmud contrasting Orthodox, Secular & Reform principles and relating that to what Israel is. Because they struggle to understand these nuances because you need to be an insider
