that or just get lucky. i dont know how smm2s algorithms work but i had several of my levels get like 200+ likes for no reason other than they just did.

thats a really good idea as well actually
i had an idea a while back where levels could have up to 3 star coins and star coins could then be used for stuff like course parts. i do think something like that could work then
opening the gates to more people like this is always a good thing in my eyes
this would also be useful for people who wanna get into mario maker just to play levels but just simply dont have online services or have a living situation that doesnt allow them Internet access all the time.
you could still have endless challenges as a sort of submode. you could still have all that. just in a slightly different format from the main online modes.
this is where im suggesting, make the third mario maker's singeplayer story mode effectively, a procedurally generated roguelike, and tie most multiplayer rewards to it.
however. a potential mario maker 3? it could solve this by having a single player that has the same vibe as the multiplayer
of course, im not expecting nintendo to sit here and make thousands of levels. that would be absurd.
Mario maker is an incredible subseries but something it suffers from greatly is future proofing itself. you cant get most of the amiibo costumes in smm1 anymore, and when the servers for smm2 go down, you wont be able to get most of the mii costumes anymore.
I just find it fascinating how so empty, mechanically, yet also so full of life this game feels. They did a really good job for their first attempt here. It is very slightly challenging but again, thats due to me not being used to it, not any fault of the game itself.
I am gonna say this though, Im so used to all the modern kirby components and modern kirby movement that over the course of this game's roughly hour long run time i never quite got used to it. I didn't detract points for this, this is entirely a me thing.
Kirby's Dream Land Gameboy boxart
KIRBYS DREAM LAND
I've never played the first kirby game outside of KSS spring breeze before. So i decided. why not play it.
honestly? pretty solid little game. very fun game, especially for the time.
7/10
remake it, slap it on the eshop for 20 bucks. do it nintendo. you know you wanna.
its understandable why the game is the way it is, but its definitely not held up the best. as a kid, i thought it was the hardest mario game. i was never able to beat it back then. never was able to get past 2-1 due to how weird the physics were for me
I absolutely think this game would benefit from some kind of remake. the physics in particular just dont feel great. the level design leans too heavily on moving horizontal platforms and precise jumps, which wouldn't be an issue in any other mario game.
Super Mario Land boxart
SUPER MARIO LAND
I havent played this game since i was a kid, never actually beaten it before
its alright i guess. good for the time but it doesn't hold up well. still fun though!
5.5/10
>boots up mario land
>gets a game over to the first goomba
good video game
from my very limited experience it feels very unstable even with big name games. I understand why to a certain extent I think, but you'd think after over 10 years they'd have it consistent at the very minimum
emulation boxes like that have always confused me to an extent, but the Thor especially is just kinda. like i said im sure its good, im sure it has its use cases. but what value does it have that a modded 3ds doesnt? thats my main question.
the more i hear about the AYN Thor the more im just. confused? Im sure its good for more modern games but if you're using it for 3ds and ds games, at that point you're better off just buying a used 3DS and modding that, yeah?
action/platformer speedruns: yea we have to do 100 frame perfect tricks to clip through all these sections and it's all skill based and precise practice and speed
old jrpg speedruns: WE HAVE TO TORTURE THE GAME BY RIPPING ITS SOUL OUT AND REPLACING IT WITH DR MARIO TO FORCE IT TO DO OUR BIDDING
dont get me wrong im not saying "oh i was the first!!!" or anything, im not saying that, im sure there was folk before me who tried to do that. i just think its neat enough people had the same train of thought to make a semi active RA set for it
whatdya know, 6 years later, retro achievements has a set of achievements for that exact challenge that i subjected myself to. The community around it is pretty small, the biggest video i can find on it only has like, a thousand views, but still.
Well whatdya know, fast forward to the other day. im watching youtube videos of a guy going through retro achievements and the guy goes "if you get me to 25k subscribers I'll do the lazy lakitu challenge in mario 64!" so i google what that is.
Over the course of a 10 day period, i documented my experience on twitter of the entire thing, as i hadnt heard of anyone else doing something like that at the time and thought "hey, this wouldnt be interesting to document"
i found out something really interesting the other day
so back in 2020, i did this sm64 challenge that i dubbed the "locked camera challenge" wherein you lock the camera in place by holding down R and playing the level like that, see how far you could get. over the course of a 10 day period.
my favorite hobby is kicking pregnant women in the stomach
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaga juust kidding!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ those are my just kidding stars so you know that im just joking nhahahah 😄
"teachers of reddit, whats the worst name you've seen a kid be named" and the top comment is some shit like "yup my star student who gets all As and has never skipped a day of class is named ShitBag and its pronounced ShaatBeeg"
"Why do you like GBA rainbow road so much?"
this. this is why.
i don't let it get to me. i just find it genuinely fascinating that people do that. you see it everywhere, its not just me, let me be clear, its not just me this is happening to. i see this happening to people all the time and i gotta wonder
why cant people just be nicer?
i appreciate the people who articulate their point in a nice, kind manner. I'm not talking about those people. im talking about the people who look at my bio, look at something about me, and go "well of course somebody like YOU wouldn't understand".
