This week's @artukdotorg.bsky.social #OnlineArtExchange celebrates wildlife! 🦋
We've chosen 'Aderyn y Bwn / Bittern' by Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe (1901–1979) - his detailed work provides us with important information about the ecology and the changing nature of our wildlife.
Today we took our Young Leaders to the @ncmme.bsky.social for their training sesh. Shout out to Rob, our guide, who spoke about education through the pits, on the job training, identity (& much more).

Arnfield's paintings, such as Keep the Pits Open, reflect her empathy and commitment to preserving the history and heritage of mining communities. (4/4)
Her series Images of Coal was exhibited across the UK.
Arnfield shared a close friendship with artist Dorothie Field. Their shared passion for social and ecological issues, particularly related to the coal mining industry, strengthened their bond. (3/4)
Her move to Nottinghamshire in 1970 sparked her interest in the coal industry, leading to powerful depictions of mining life.
In the 1990s, Arnfield focused on the decline of the coal industry, with British Coal sponsoring her exhibition Coal Mining in Nottinghamshire - a Tribute 1994. (2/4)
