(Like TNG, it is imperfect and noticably rooted in the 1990s. But it is a very interesting series that uses the subject of space travel and colonization to talk about real issues and hold a mirror up to our society.)

One of the main schools of thought that grows out of the characters' conflicting worldviews is that terraforming Mars to make it more habitable is fundamentally destroying the very thing they are there to study!

It is about a group of space colonists suddenly forced to grapple with the implications of what they are doing and trying to stop the thoughtless spread of imperialist/capitalist exploitation that they unwittingly began by colonizing Mars in the first place.
