And not just in the detective genre, etc. But the limitations and/or banality of texting (for story, plot, and/or a narrator's interiority).
And I don't mean to dismiss stories or artists that include texting/technology. A wonderful former professor of mine wrote a great contemporary. A parallel to fiction writers might be like listening to interviews with movie and TV folks, a recurring theme of doing period pieces is to avoid texts...
What are your favorite stories with text messages? In truth, I kind of get bored and my reading accelerates through them... Is it as simple as: write a contemporary story without text message excerpts?
Completely spaced on that! Ah. I do miss Enlightened even if I'm reboot-averse... I mean, maybe Luke Wilson's character find his footing, works as a trainer at a resort!!

Interesting w/r/t AD ASTRA! The sublime is such an important (beautiful, sad) part of Gray's THE LOST CITY OF Z. Curious if the director's cut would change this or if the theatrical and director's are similar regarding the sublime.
