And instead of “the objective man” being open to rigorous analysis and discussion, what we get is condescending language about community members’ concerns.

I don’t think Black people who are upset at the new zoning measures are “misinformed” or “illiterate.” I think they understand how communities are built—on rhythms and coordination—and they can see this zoning bill for what it is, and that’s what’s upsetting “the objective man.”
Also it’s very telling that the majority of people who are crying screaming shaking about “misinformation” from a differing viewpoint are…he/him.
And it’s telling that they view their analysis as objective. But what’s new.
You know, it says a lot about you when you call another person’s experiences/response as “misinformation” instead of being open to the concept of
Maybe your opinion is subjective.
Freddie pushed guardrails instead of community safety. He pushed fusus instead of ACTUAL NEEDS. He has deepened inequalities and increased displacement and y’all are thanking him because he’s in a corner and trying to rebrand?
Everuone thanking Freddie for not surveilling marginalized people is like boy moms who think their baby boys are the prize for existing.
Please be aware of who sees your “thanks Freddie!” posts in the wake of exhaustive 15 months of community labor.
So now we move straight to the vote, where so many of the people who just talked about the importance of listening to marginalized communities will vote in favor of something marginalized communities are asking them not to approve.
ICE is pulling green card holders at airports and detaining them until they sign to “give up their green cards” and “allow deportation.”
You have to be extremely privileged to believe policy cannot, is not, broken by police.
That ~regulating~ harm is a proper response to addressing harm.
Only white men + accomplices believe in that nonsense.
Powerful words from Dahron. Surveillance does not keep us safe, we do. Investments in our communities do. Surveillance is about profit, control & incarceration. If those things kept us safe, we’d be the safest country in the world. How many groups of people have to be targeted before we say no?
Nashville: a red dot in a red state
I was worried this was happening when he was earily silent on the Metro Arts debacle. With the amount power within the executive branch, he could have had a heavier hand. And particularly after some questionable action by Metro Finance and Legal. nashvillebanner.com/2024/03/22/m...
How about yes?
Does anyone else get a little upset coming across really fuckin awesome art and it’s barely got any praise for it but you KNOW if more people got a chance to see it then it would be popping off
Can anyone like @jordanhuffmantn.bsky.social and @rollinhorton.bsky.social provide historical examples where the thing a bunch of white dudes agreed on turned out to be good? And marginalized folks were freaking out for no good reason?
CM Huffman, how do you square your support for “women’s rights, equality, and justice” with your support of increased surveillance?
It's extremely performative for you to be taking int’l women's day selfies while you push surveillance that will be integrated with ALPR's which have already been used to track people seeking repro and gender affirming healthcare. Maybe you should actually try reading Jessica Valenti's Substack
A selfie doesn't change your support of surveillance, which is used to hurt women. A selfie isn't advocacy.
When yall ask if I watched council:
I feel like we’re not talking enough about how Courtney Johnson, who supports Donald Trump, agrees with Freddie O’Connell, who ran as “a progressive,” about FUSUS.
tweet on blue sky by rep clemons saying “Appreciate your concern. The bill did not do what the article alleges. I've spoken to the editor about clarification. Thanks.”
“let me speak to your manager” karen meme, but with “editor” replacing the word manager
TN LOOKOUT: “The recent introduction — and rapid withdrawal — of legislation to eliminate local authority over police surveillance cameras by Democratic lawmaker Rep. John Ray Clemmons in the state legislature has raised eyebrows in Nashville.” tennesseelookout.com/2025/02/24/a...
Glad everyone is calling out the bullshit that is @rollinhorton.bsky.social’s Fusus “guardrails”
Tomorrow the Fusus “guardrails” bill (BL2025-690) will be on second reading. Make sure your district councilmember & 5 at-large councilmembers know what you think! My position is that police shouldn’t (& don’t) police themselves and that metro CMs cannot stop state & federal misuse or overreach.

Donold is blaming a plane crash that killed 67 people on “DEI” with zero evidence.
He is attempting to use racism to deflect from the fact it is HIS fault. He had just removed 100 FAA senior officials.
It’s been 11 days and there are 67 bodies in the Potomac in Washington DC because of him.
