Not something I’ve really thought about - so food for thought to read this & will be more alert to these in the future.

Shocking that this is also happening in the UK.

British schoolgirl stranded in Denmark after return flight blocked over UK border rules Exclusive: Hanne, 16, from Sussex, was not allowed to board flight to London after weekend in Copenhagen

Exactly the kind of story I warned about a few weeks ago. Insane that the Home Office cannot just let back in a British citizen (with birth certificate in hand) who needs to do her GCSEs in a few weeks. Where is the common sense? Can Mahmood get anything right?

Crude Awakening: Averting the Unfolding Energy Crisis by Decoupling the Price of Electricity From Gas Moving from the wholesale market to a single buyer model can best decouple the price of electricity from gas and protect households from the sharp end of the energy crisis.

Britain is once again on the brink of an energy crisis because of the role of gas in our electricity system.

🧵 Our new briefing explains why this is happening — and how we can reform the system to protect ordinary billpayers.

"People migrate - one of the most normal human behaviours in history, for millenia.

What isn’t legitimate, however, is spending years building a media career on contempt for the country you left while simultaneously expecting that country to bail you out when things go sideways."

With the Gorton and Denton win, our opponents have been working overtime to misrepresent Green Party drugs policy. Heroin in corner shops? Crack for kids?

Let's clear this up. 🧵

These people are poison. They will unleash racist thugs on the streets of this country and call it security. They will subjugate us to the US and call it patriotism. They must be stopped. There is no more important task in politics.

50 years ago it was accepted by everyone that Water, Energy, Public Transport, Social Housing, Child Social Care, Telecoms and much more was all owned by the Government (you) and was free from profit.

We need to make that normal again, as it is the source of most of the problems

TfL wants to create a publicly owned bus company for London If established, it would be the first major publicly owned bus company to operate in the capital for thirty years.

Amazing news! 🎉🚌🎉🚌🎉🚌

Well done @mayoroflondon.bsky.social "If a private company is making profit, would it not be nice if it was run by us, and we made the profit and reinvested it in public transport rather than in our shareholders getting dividends?" 👏👏👏

I missed all the kerfuffle around this in the MSM

Maybe I read the wrong papers? 🤭

The narrative about London crime is truly so BORING to Londoners.

Those of us who walk & travel around our city safely every day, every night.

The likeliest daily risk to Londoners is of being ripped off by our landlord or somewhere charging us £4.50 for a coffee. #r4today

I called my recipe book Sabzi – vegetables. But the name was trademarked. And my legal ordeal began The granting of patents and trademarks to foods and words from the global south is part of a long colonial grab. It’s time to realise we share what we cook, and what we call it

An excellent piece by Yasmin Khan in @theguardian.com – and I’m very relieved the preposterous case against her has been dropped. www.theguardian.com/food/comment...

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

“Even God Cannot Hear Us Here”: What I Witnessed Inside an ICE Women’s Prison Tufts University doctoral student Rümeysa Öztürk opens up about her 45 days in a South Louisiana processing facility—and the generous and compassionate women she met.

Rümeysa is one of the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever met. Many of you came to know her first and foremost as an ICE abductee, seized by a state that wanted to strip her of her humanity. I would like for you to know her in her own words, which are resoundingly human.
