And as for light rail: if it only went to say, Fife or Federal Way, it wouldn't be all that useful, would it? The appeal of it is that it's a regional system... there's fifty stations now for the Tacoma Dome Link extension to connect to. Everyone has been waiting for light rail. Tacoma isn't unique.

Tacoma, in fact, got its streetcar years before Seattle got any light rail at all.

Sounder South was in operation before Sounder North.

The notion that Pierce County taxpayers are getting taken advantage of by Sound Transit is not accurate. ST has been investing in Pierce County for decades.

The post is responding to arguments from John Niles that rail isn't worth building and that we should have a bus only transit system.

Tacoma hasn't gotten light rail yet, but it does have a streetcar + bidirectional Sounder commuter rail, which other communities in the ST jurisdiction do not have.
