“Most people never risk it. And for what it’s worth… I’m glad you didn’t. I’d have missed meeting someone as beautiful, and mysterious like you.”

“You make it sound like I run a ship instead of a hotel.”

His expression eases.

“Discipline’s useful, but charm usually works better. Especially with staff—and intriguing guests who ask sharp questions.” 》》

《《 “Adventure suits you,” he says, voice low with warmth.

“Even trouble seems to bend in your favor.”

A pause, the faintest smirk.

“And I’ll admit, I don’t often meet anyone who can make a compliment sound like it belongs in a confession.” 》》

He smiles faintly, drawn in by her laughter.

“So, not your farm then. I can’t picture you content in one place anyway.”

His eyes linger, curious.

“You seem like the sort who’d rather chase the sunrise than watch it from the same window twice.” 》》

His tone softens.

He gives a quiet chuckle, gaze flicking over Adam’s face as if trying to decide if he’s joking or not.

“Slumming it? You make it sound like I stumbled into a secret world.”

He leans back slightly, studying him.

Pine thought perhaps the man that had entered the bar of his hotel may be a target of the cartel he was tracking.

He goes into the bar, taking a seat next to the man and ordering a drink.

"Here on business?"

He asks casually.

Pine clears his throat and bites his lower lip with a strained smile.
