Wow. That’s annoying.
An editor didn’t do their job here.

Sounds like something in Talisman.
(Cool!)
”It’s stupid.”
Indeed, though it’s also about the weirdness of consumers’ preferences.
Why, in 2026 let alone 2035, would anyone still even think about buying a new internal combustion car?
Beautiful and fascinating. Thanks.
Spain's renewables build-out has structurally decoupled its electricity prices from gas markets. Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy.
Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks. Those that didn't now pay the price.
Ok, but why continue reading the paper then? They make the job easy for you.
As soon as you detect such behaviour, without a doubt, then… that’s it. You’re done. You know what to write to the editor. The authors don’t deserve any more of your time.
Sweden, any chance of getting off your butt and also allowing this?
Very informative, thanks!
The contrast between Italy and Spain seems to extend to their contradictory stances on what to do about energy prices--see this Politico piece.
Italy: weaken EU climate policy.
Spain: maintain EU climate policy.
Today, Europe’s energy system is cleaner, much more diverse - and much more stable than a few years ago.
Yet the developments in the Middle East remind us once again of the risks of relying still too much on fossil fuels.
Suggested reading. This classic piece by Krugman is still worth the time today.
"Let's start telling the truth: Competitiveness is a meaningless word when applied to national economies. And the obsession with competitiveness is both wrong and dangerous."
It's almost... like the world should have invested more in sources of energy other than fossil fuels? 🤔
He can’t take away that it was a great game. Wow. Either team could have won.
Ok, their goalie stood on his head and they won the big game.
But we still have democracy.
The Transnational Institute mourns the sad news of the passing of Susan George.
No one has done more to shape, energize and inspire TNI over the decades – she has been our inspiration, our honorary leader, our intellectual soul, and our beloved friend.

”We should not [allow ourselves to be] blackmailed by him," Austrian State Secretary for Energy Elisabeth Zehetner said.
…
”I can’t understand the argument of the U.S. … Maybe it’s an ideological thing.”
Just maybe, yeah.
Today, Navalny's message to the world may resonate with many Americans differently than it did over two years ago.
Alexei Navalny died on this day in 2024, poisoned using that the deadly frog toxin as reported by the governments of the United Kingdom, Sweden, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
Europe beats America overall in what matters, for sure.
(Nice mention of Canadians looking to join the EU! 😍
I bet it would be more than 40% if they knew it was a real option, too.)
Sort of wondering when foreign leaders who understand the basic facts of climate change will tell Trump that he's making hugely costly decisions for the whole world, and it's not OK.
The reality is that greenhouse gas emissions are harmful.
Trump not believing that doesn't change the reality.
I didn’t notice. But looking it up… Draisaitl!
What. Were. They. Thinking.
😂🤓😳🫣
Ow Canada!
While in Sweden the current government—and the center-left opposition—work to deport teenage children of adult immigrants working here.
🤦
Can you elaborate? What do you mean by ”averaging risk”?
Wow. I had a paper rejected on Dec 25th a few years ago, and that was bad enough.
(So bad it kind of made me laugh actually.)
I wish the world had already acted more on your advice.
Can we please take this seriously now?

More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.
They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”
