I wonder that too, Jess. I'm a second grade teacher in a public school attending #NCTE25 on my own dime, even have to $ for my own sub. The connections and learning draw me back. I'm thankful.

Nell's author visit inspired our second grade writers! This student said, "Look, I'm writing like Nell." Nell shared a piece she revised, with cross outs. And he was super excited to write like Nell! Thanks, Nell for inspiring writers.

#NCTE24 authors...the joy you brought to my classroom of 2nd graders was infectious! We spent the morning partner reading the suitcase full of books I brought home. Lots of book talks too. They each picked a special book to take home. The day after #NCTE is the best!

Thank you #NCTE24, authors, and publishers. Books, books, snd more books. Can't wait to share these with my 2nd graders and colleagues. There is nothing like book joy!

#NCTE24 four days of learning in honoring, loving spaces. My head and heart are full. Thank you.

We have book joy in 2nd grade! Students are into series books, especially Desmond Cole and Ivy and Bean, sharing books, and book talks. They love read aloud...almost done with Charlotte's Web. And they are writing their own books!

Yes! My 2nd graders are hooked with the whole class novels I choose to read. Teaching readers how to hold meaning across chapters is an important skill. Again, not either/or, but an and/also.
