Paris forced into shutdown as 39C peak predicted The Eiffel Tower, a nuclear power station and more than a thousand schools subject to closures in France as wildfires continue to plague Turkey

Brutal heat caused by the #ClimateCrisis has forced the Eiffel Tower, a nuclear power station and 1,350 schools to close in France.

Unnatural disasters like wildfires, mudslides and violent storms are wreaking havoc across Europe, leading to train suspensions and traffic restrictions.

Winning the mid-weeks are fine but the team needs to win ACC series.

Impressive 5-1 win tonight versus Duke. Matt Scott was on fire.

He hired a great softball coach and new basketball coach. He oversaw modernization of several athletic facilities - the tennis pavilion being the most recent effort. 13 years as AD is a long time. I hope Levine attracts an AD who can advocate nationally on governing/reforming NIL and portal.

I agree with you that Muir has not had the best tenure at Stanford. His biggest flaw is he’s slow to change. He should have fired Hasse after 5 years. He should have advocated coaches to move more swiftly on NIL
and portal. He should not have initiated the effort to cut 11 sports.

I don’t think Stanford’s loss is due to Muir. Irfaken and Nunu were out. New coach.
New league.

The future is bright. Only losing two seniors. Bringing in 3 McDonald’s All Americans. Will be back in NCAA tourney next year.

A line graph depicting global CO2 emissions from energy and industrial processes, along with projections from 2000 to 2100. The y-axis represents CO2 emissions in gigatons (Gt), while the x-axis marks the years. A highlighted target to keep global temperature rise below 1.5°C in 2100 is at 20 GtCO₂/yr by 2030. Also show is a line showing decrease in emissions equivalent to what occurred during the pandemic. The line misses the target by about 8 GtCO₂/yr in 2030.

A constant reminder that even if CO₂ emissions decreased annually as much as they did during the pandemic lockdown from now to 2030, we still wouldn't meet our emission target to keep global warming below 1.5°C.

Yeah, not representing skill level is the same but effort and mindset are similar. You never know how a player develops in college. Skov went undrafted despite being a great player/captain on a top 10 team.

Saw him play this season (St Shayne Skov kinda player in stature and mindset.

We can’t afford to curtail existing clean energy sources. I understand if he wants to slow new wind turbine deployments, but taking existing capacity them offline is counter productive.

As folks are struggling to adjust to our new Regime in the USA, keep in mind that climate progress is global and there are numerous channels where progress continues entirely unaffected by who occupies the White House. Not all of the items on this list, but most of them. Onwards... 🔌💡

EV Projects to Get $13 Billion in Federal Loans The financing for a factory in Georgia is part of a last-minute effort to establish climate policies before President-elect Donald J. Trump takes office.

Announcing a ~$6B conditional commitment to @rivianofficial.bsky.social for their Georgia facility. The Georgia factory expand the production from the plant in Illinois and produce S.U.V.s that sell for about $45,000.

Hang in there, IB. The team fought hard against SJS like they did against Cal and Louisville. Player movement in the portal will be a tell sign if TT can keep the key guys and build upon this good class of Freshman players. Disappointing season but let’s see what happens.

The Trump admin would benefit from preserving reg 30D: $7500 EV tax incentive. US battery industry still far from being cost competitive with China. Eliminating the incentive/requirement for US produced batteries/materials in EVs would lead US EV makers turning to China for cheaper batteries

I’m surprised total water consumption declined between 2005 and 2015 as a result of declining usage for thermoelectric production (hydro power?).

I suspect water consumption has increased in the last decade due in part to the rapid increase in data centers.

Though less precise, X MAU is 335M users and Bluesky MAU is 11.3M thru mid November. X MAU is declining and Bluesky MAU is growing rapidly so the X/Bluesky MAU ratio will shrink over time.

One of the biggest gaps in hard tech / deep tech climate talent development is recruiting technical leaders with specialty engineering experience (eg,
ME, EE, ChemE, etc).

Three reasons:
1/ They need to be near the physical plant
2/ They need domain
3/ They often require Operations exp.

Thanks. Hopefully the mix of exported clean energy increases over time.

Growth of off-grid PV capacity is encouraging. Does the declining share of off-grid PV in spite of increasing PV capacity signals switching to clean fuels in developed and growth of grid infrastructure in developing
countries?

Encouraging from a trade standpoint that we’re a net exporter in the last five years. What is the breakdown of exported energy types? Mostly LNG?

There are differing views about the impact of reaching 1.5C. What should be unifying is the need to keep working towards reducing emissions, bringing more people into the effort, and advocating for many solutions, not arguing which pathways are better than others.

This graphic of clean energy’s efficiency across sectors should be posted on billboards throughout America. Half of the battle is education and awareness.

The impact of a Trump Presidency on the climate job market Donald Trump has returned to the US Presidency with a resounding victory that no pollster or political pundit saw coming. Adding control of both Houses of Congress gives President-Elect Trump the poli...

IRA programs are creating over 600,000 jobs across all sectors of climate. President-Elect Trump vows to curtail IRA initiatives and promote oil and gas production. While anxiety is high, the news about the climate jobs market is not all that bleak. www.linkedin.com/pulse/impact...

One of my goals is to help more people get into climate. My personal goal is to help 500 people network into climate jobs by 2030. Outside of my own projects, I’ve spoken with nearly 100 people in the last year. So many great people want to get into climate. it takes a while.
