Put it this way: the people scandalized by the idea people are applying for MAID because they’re broke and see no way out are the same people who want cops to clear unhoused encampments in parks. I guarantee it.

MAID is an incredibly difficult subject I think almost everyone wrestles with. But I’d be more open to criticism of the policy if it didn’t come from people who, on principle, won’t lift a finger to provide alternatives like better healthcare, accessibility, social assistance, or quality of life.

Media & police commonly report that “speed wasn’t a factor in a crash.” What they mean is the driver wasn’t technically breaking the speed limit, or at least not too much.

But speed is ALWAYS a factor, in how much distance is needed to stop, how well crash victims can be seen, and whether they die.
