Vacatures - PhD tumor immunology of peritoneal metastasis - Amsterdam UMC Colorectal cancer with peritoneal metastases has a particularly poor prognosis. In this KWF-funded project, you will investigate how glycan structures affect immune responses in peritoneal metastasis and whether glycan inhibition can restore anti-tumor immunity.

Our lab is hiring a PhD student to investigate how glycans affect antitumor immune responses in metastases and how this can be modulated to improve immunotherapy! More info here 👇

Tumour-reactive heterotypic CD8 T cell clusters from clinical samples - Nature Tumour-reactive CD8+ T cells are enriched in functional clusters with tumour cells and/or antigen-presenting cells and can be isolated and expanded from clinical samples.

Congratulations to MCBI postdoc Sofia Ibáñez-Molero (and co-authors) for publishing in @nature.com her cluster method developed during her PhD at @nkinl.bsky.social in @peeperlab.bsky.social. By always excluding doublets in glow cytometry you might exclude some gems.. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Pneumocystis Pneumonia --- Los Angeles

Today marks the 44th anniversary of the publication in the MMWR of a new syndrome that we now know as AIDS www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview... (MMWR 1981;30:250--2). Much progress since then but much remains to be done.

(2) They also potentiated the ability of lymphoma cells to enhance lymphatic vessel permeability, although they did not affect permeability on their own.

In addition, to survival this model hint at a role of FRCs in contributing to lymphoma cell metastasis in two different ways. (1) They promoted directional migration of lymphoma cells towards the lymphatic vessels.

The addition of primary FRCs in the model improved the viability of the lymphoma cells, which was linked to increased production of interleukin-6, a known survival factor for hematological cancer cells.
