#OnThisDay in 1966, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections that poll taxes in state elections are unconstitutional. Poll taxes weren't just a fee. They were a system designed to silence Black voters and low-income Americans. NO POLL TAXES!
The DOJ is demanding Oklahoma hand over voters' SSNs, dates of birth, and addresses, w/no explanation for how that data would be used. Oklahoma refused. Now they're being sued.

#OnThisDay in 1918, the Texas House passed HB 105 by a vote of 83-34, which granted women the right to vote in white Texas Primaries. The bill was passed by the Texas Senate on March 21, 1918 by a vote of 18-4, and Governor William P. Hobby signed the bill into law on March 26, 1918.
