⌚ TIMELY #TuesdayThoughts:
Our most valuable,
most precious possession,
is not money, or homes,
or our bank account.
It is time.
We cannot buy it.
We cannot reclaim it.
We can only own this moment.
Let's do! 👍

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

If Starmer were to announce that he and @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu were in talks to rejoin the EU right now, Im confident that the majority of Britain would be ecstatic.
Just saying.

The great Brexit con summed up.

An inquiry into foreign interference that excludes Brexit is like holding an inquiry into traffic jams and excluding cars. What a pathetic waste of time and money Starmer is. Total coward. #brexit #brexitisshite

Brexit was, is and will always be an ongoing disaster and I will never vote for any party that doesn’t have a manifesto promise to reverse it.

DOES HE KNOW WHAT PROGRESSIVE MEANS?

The most progressive thing he could do is to REJOIN THE SM & CU and produce a road map for REJOINING THE EU! It’s Farage’s Achilles heel too, but Starmer’s so dull, so stupid, the chances of him having the courage or the imagination are NIL!

Since 1970s when we joined Europe, food has been secure in Britain.

But Brexit tore up our trade agreements, agri policy and food security.

U.K. has NO FOOD PLAN as
climate change and war are playing havoc with the 🌍

There is NO PLAN to feed the population. Tories ended food as public good.

STARMER’S NOT LISTENING!

I really dislike the people who were once strong supporters of Remain, but who now try to convince themselves and others that Brexit's OK - indeed inevitable - because the alternative is to admit that Labour are screwing up badly.

It's the tribalism that gets to me.

More than ever, people appreciate what they get from Europe!

Over 7 in 10 EU citizens believe that their country has benefitted from being a member of the EU. This is the highest result ever recorded in a Eurobarometer survey for this question since it was first asked in 1983.

Unfortunately, Labour were right beside the Tories at every important Brexit vote, and they did f**k all² to prevent it.

Given its level of support in the population, rejoin is drastically under-represented organisationally.

There's a huge movement to be built if people can get over this idea of "tactically" hiding their beliefs.

Some people think it's clever not to say what you really believe in.

They try to look at where the "mainstream" is and situate themselves one degree beyond it.

We don't.

We say: rejoin the EU.

The majority – over 60% of the public in polls! – are with us.

So why wouldn't we? Someone needs to!

Are you sick of British leaders cowering in fear of Murdoch and Farage. Do you want real leaders who will stand up and defeat these pieces of far-right filth?
