Cllr Sanne Dijkstra-Downie and 1970 silver medal winner Brian Temple with their bikes
Wow! π€© Itβs not often you accidentally bump into a Commonwealth medallist! What a delight to chat about the joys of cycling and our favourite local paths with Scottish legend Brian Temple, who won a silver medal on the Meadowbank track back in 1970!
Fab to see the regs laid today to ban plastic in single use wet wipes!
Our @mcsuk.bsky.social volunteers have picked up thousands from Scottish beaches and across the UK!
This will help wet wipe free beaches but also remember to only flush the three pees - pee, poo and toilet paper!
At Council today Lib Dems asked that Edinburgh Council @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social consider moving the hugely popular travel and helpdesk accounts over from X to Bluesky. Hope this can happen soon!
Devastated. Kirsty was a wonderful human being, a bright star and an inspiration as a successful woman in politics. She was unfailingly kind and supportive and Iβll forever cherish the meandering chats about politics, the importance of science and life in general on her visits to Edinburgh.
This whole saga is heartbreaking. When your child is diagnosed with cancer, as a parent you spend EVERY waking minute trying to stop them from getting an infection. The hospital should be the safest place to be for these kids and that it wasnβt is horrifying, especially if people knew this π
Have raised this with officers too and was told they would investigate
Thanks so much @seascotland.bsky.social for giving me a chance to talk about my love of the ocean and how we should be looking after our local marine spaces! π
This record of failure shows water regulation in our country is broken.
Water companies are getting away with polluting our rivers on an industrial scale and face little more than a slap on the wrist.
Unbelievable that bottom trawling is still allowed in the UKβs marine protected areas. Itβs extremely destructive for marine life and should be banned in all MPAs #ocean www.theguardian.com/environment/...
And the embarrassment that is current #Dutchpolitics continues as the Govt falls because Wildersβ colleagues donβt want to implement his illegal and unworkable migration proposals.
Guess what - right-wing populists making promises they cannot keep and then blaming others for their failure π€·ββοΈ

Charles Kennedy, stood in front of the Liberal Democrats logo.
Ten years on, we still feel the loss of Charles Kennedy.
Charles was principled, kind and possessed an unmatched talent for connecting with people - he was a great friend and an outstanding leader.
I know he would have been so proud to see his old seat back in Lib Dem hands.
The ban on disposable vapes starts today. Good news for our environment and, hopefully, the start of a turnaround on vaping numbers among young teenagers. Thanks to everyone who made this happen, not least @lesswastelaura.bsky.social who campaigned for this tirelessly. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Hello! π this feels a bit like moving house, I wonder if the neighbours are nicer than at the old place π
