Either celebrate games as art, or drop the pretence. There’s not really a middle ground.

that they are freaking out this badly over a surtax on second homes worth more than five million dollars - the most excessive rich person thing imaginable, which doesn’t even affect most of them - really makes it clear how little attention you need to pay to the freak outs

21st century realism is an aesthetic — it literally doesnt matter how connected to historical record or scientific research it is, what matters is that it *conforms to* "realistic." basically all chud hypocrisy around realism gets resolved through understanding this

Your Power Tools Got Worse On Purpose | Who Really Owns DeWalt, Craftsman, and Milwaukee? How TTI and Stanley Black & Decker took the same playbook in opposite directions. One invested $206M in R&D and grew to 4,000 workers. The other is $6 billion in debt and closing its hometown factory.

The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling. It tells things.

If “frame a scene” sounds scary, try this one weird trick Sorry, For The Queen, there’s a new beginner-friendly, card-based story game in town.

Zhenya's Wonder Tales is pretty wonderful.

I made a coiled sword for my home bonfire and posted it in the dark souls reddit and got comments asking how people could commission one. I replied "sorry, I can't discuss that here, I'm not allowed to self promote" and got a permanent ban for "self promotion by admitting you take coms elsewhere"

My day job (self-employed) includes wandering around the internet and keeping track what people say about PbtA. Occasionally a new one will pop up.

Lately I've been seeing "in a PbtA game, you shouldn't be rolling dice that often anyway."

I'm like, you shouldn't what now? Where did THIS come from?

What an insanely good offer for an exceptional game. Fellowship has irrevocably shaped the way that I write games, and is a must-read for anyone trying to create gonzo PbtA fantasy. Its moves, unlike many thin pastiche games of its era, do such unique and playful things, and the Frameworks are sick.

Court Reform Is the Only Real Exit from Today’s Political Hellscape Opinion: The problem starts and ends with Democrats' unwillingness to wield their power and money—whether they want to admit it or not.

As wealth concentrates, so does power — the power to influence elections, shape policy, tilt markets and define the terms of public debate.

Taxing billionaires is not radical.

What is radical is allowing a system where extreme wealth exists alongside widespread hardship.

i really wish "children are people and people are not property" was not a radical opinion but unfortunately it's the central question up for debate with much of politics
