Better late than never my #SOS #NomadTierList predictions.
A synergy-focused puzzle set where having a cohesive game plan is critical. Games will be decided on key turns once all the pieces have been assembled.
WB > GB > UR/UG/WR

1-2 at our first #MagicMates #SOS draft. Didn't get much of a signal P1 and moved into Prismari but turns out 4 other people in the 10 player pod did too (including on my right).
Didn't really have an off ramp and missed on the proactive Prowess deck I was going for and ended up too unfocused.
3-1 losing in the finals (1-2) at a Win a Box #SOS prerelease. Deck was consistent (if slightly underpowered) Witherbloom. Top tables were almost all BG as well, with 1 Jeskai and 1 Silverquill (which went 4-0).
Additive Evolution probably the biggest performer in the deck.
One really cool thing about Secrets of Strixhaven is that there are exactly 24 Monocolored cards per color, with 8 that you want more in one College, 8 in the other, and 8 that you want for both
Love this, I think the aggregate is a bit low on Essence Scatter and a bit high on Run Behind but I guess we'll see π
I asked too, unfortunately not π
Glad this is back, I always enjoyed listening to Adam's thoughts pre-format and the Scuffle system is still the best grading technique I've come across (even if it doesn't make an appearance here).
Interesting take about the 8-8-8 breakdown per colour in SOS.

2-1 in our final #ECL #MagicMates draft with basically rareless Merfolk (Kinbinding P1P1 but in P2 the person left of me moved in on UW for double Champion of the Shoal).
Shoutout to Scattershot (a new Magic app still in closed beta testing) for the digitised decklist! It turned my picture into it.
@mtgds.bsky.social are you running a #P0P1 for Secrets of Strixhaven?
I've been a listener since Day 1 and have loved every episode. Bring on more 4/2 tramplers!
Would recommend supporting Sam over on his new Patreon if you can afford it
patreon.com/RoughDrafts?...
Interesting to hear your stance on this given that I consider BR sacrifice to be the strongest archetype in my Peasant Cube. I think that's due to multiple factors (multiple Reanimate effects and power outliers like Gut). However it's also very supported and importantly all the pieces are very cheap
It's been a while since I had a truly ridiculous turn 1 in #PoweredCube.
My opening hand was Academy, Mana Crypt, Mox Pearl, Pinnacle Emissary, Skullclamp, Candelabra. Proceeded to draw my deck, dump >20 power on board and Mind Twist 6 of my opponent's cards.
Urza's Saga, Academy AND Workshop? π€―
π7-1 with a crazy #PoweredCube 5c base-UG storm deck.
Dozens of mini combos but most games were won with Brain Freeze. Usually I was cheating Atraxa into play to find all the pieces...

π 3-0 with a rather dull Elves deck at our #MagicMates #ECL draft.
P1P1 Morcant's Eyes, P2P1 Gloom Ripper so forced it despite not being open.
3x Tilling helped me find my good cards and managed to dodge any creatures that really needed killing with my 0 removal spells (except Gloom Ripper).
Oracle of Tragedy is one of my favourite 2 drops in my Peasant Cube. The body, filtering and also ability to prevent decking are all really relevant.
#NomadTierList results for #ECL (Bo3)
W: c=1/3 u=2/3 r=β
U: c=1/3 (my 3rd came 4th) u=2/3 r=β
B: c=1/3 u=2/3 r=β
R: c=0/3 (my 1st came 4th) u=2/3 r=β
G: c=2/3 u=0/3 r=β
M: c=3/3 (in the right orderπ) u=2/3 r=β
Total: c=44% u=56% r=33%
Format overview was good but missed on GB elves.
With #TMT taking over Arena I've been forced to play B01 #MAT drafts instead.
Went from Bronze to Mythic #10, finishing with this banger of a UBg loops deck.

2-1 at my Peasant Cube team draft tonight with a very strong WR deck featuring Gut & Mother of Runes.
P1P1 took the goblin over Mana Drain and Force of Will. Ended up losing to the Reanimator deck but also had some unfortunate draws in that game.
4 drops were Heroic Reinforcements & Battle Screech
Played in the Sydney Limited Championship Qualifier today. Very happy with deck and pool, not so happy with gameplay. Lost some close ones early to end up x/2 which didn't have a shot at top 32.
Went with RG but had a sideboard plan to swap into U if the removal matched up better (and I did once).
Seems to match the vibe from our playgroup. We're still drafting ECL in person and most of us aren't intending to draft TMT online.
Hopefully they give us some other draft options outside of ECL Quick Draft...
This can't be correct... can it? At least not to this scale?
I charted @17lands.bsky.social first day numbers for each set since the start of 2025 and TMNT is being massively boycotted by online limited players if the numbers are correct.
I feel less alone in my avoidance....

I came to the same realisation about Bo1 drafts. After every draft I'd feel bad about something (results, variance etc.) until I realised it was solved by just playing Bo3 instead!
2-1 at tonight's #MagicMates #ECL draft with a fairly average UR deck. Opened a Soul Immolation P2 which solidified me in red but was missing some more elemental payoffs.
