Also me. It was as wild a thing to edit as it was a thing to write.
For the second post on The Pendulum this week, I put out a very late article about incel slang, tracing a rough history of incel subcultures (and their memes), and presenting why all of this is the fault of the "lolcat" and the "RickRoll". It drove me crazy!

In case you missed it, we had a wild double-feature of posts at The Pendulum this week!
First, @sarahrosina.bsky.social wrote up a piece about what "vandalism" Australian police seem to consider enough justification to raid your home and who supports that.

Capitalism will never provide a solution to anything because it wants to profit from everything.
It's like leaving Serial Killers in charge of stopping Murder.
All the AFL players are in Adelaide, which is depressing for me. Usually I get to blame my weekend hijinks on them, meaning a really embarrassing apology on behalf of their club, their sponsors, their teammates, and their family. So I’m hacking their phones instead. ~Depot Cat
I have another piece out, still on the theme of police repression against protesters but this time looking at an incredibly local case that arose recently and fitting into the pattern of the other cases currently taking place.

“They’re destroying more than fifty research facilities..labs that house decades of irreplaceable long-term science, the kind you literally cannot restart once it’s gone. And they’re replacing all of it..with fifteen political appointees”

For the amount that News Corp goes ‘disabled people are wasting our tax money by staying alive’ you would assume the company would bother actually paying tax
How did we get used to this that rapidly and easily
The problem with the NDIS - and there is a problem - is the same one Australia always faces. If you let small businesses exploit the public purse, they'll exploit it mercilessly (remember pink batts or any one of a 100 such programs). The key is in the system design, not the auditing of it.
NT jail cells are filled with First Nations young people facing extreme cruelty. Young people need support and care, not armed police on their school bus ride. We know what’s needed to keep communities safe. It's community services, safe housing, and access to school and healthcare, not armed cops.
'Joel Davis has been released from prison after 120 days in solitary confinement for an Internet post criticising a politician. His bail conditions forbid him from going online or using a smart phone. This is Australia.'
2/ In other nazi news, local binfluencer Maram Susli shares a tweet from nazi zine The Noticer & laments the fact that Hitler fanboy Joel Davis spent months on remand & has had bail conditions & a non-association order imposed.
'This is Australia.'

April First Announcement: BALLPIT AT TAFCON! [Image contains a ballpit and a person jumping into it, with an arrow designating that person jumping into the ballpit as YOU] Bottom of the image has the TAFCON logo, but instead of the normal tagline it says "it's a joke we're not actually having one" And yes, this is an april fools joke. We tried making it really obvious our goal is to make you laugh not actually fool you.
And if you put money into the hat we're passing around you get an extra hour in the ballpit 🤸
A crochet bag from the side, with a flowered white ribbon along the edges and a bead and hook attached to the top corner.
A yellow-and-pink crochet bag, with a pink button and a pink felt flower with a yellow ribbon applique.
Two years ago, my grandmother and I helped an elderly neighbour to his door when he collapsed. In thanks, he sent us chocolates for Easter. It wasn't long after that he passed away.
That pink felt flower was around the wrapping. I've now crocheted it into this bag, busting as much yarn as I could.

Wow shocking, girls 'identifying' as autistic or ADHD as they move into harder levels of schooling where social interactions become increasingly complicated and less and less of your life is scheduled and organised for you by parents and teachers (and when the pressure to socially conform increases)
