Some give me grief
for referring to my wife
as my "better half."
So, OK, OK,
she's more like
two-thirds, but
cut me some
slack.

I was just reading about it. The green comes from refracted light. If there is any atmospheric disturbance, the light gets scattered. We were becalmed out in the ocean. Glassy surface. No clouds. Very still. The lightwaves had a straight shot.
So, the saying has Scandahoovian roots?
I always look for it, but haven't seen it sense.
At sunset, the whole crew was on deck
awaiting the green flash.
Lore has it anyone seeing that rarity
was guaranteed a lifetime
of good luck.
The sun shrank to an orange dot
then an emerald strobe blazed
like an explosion over the horizon.
Lucky us.
Saw it the next day, too.

Reality Check Break
Rachel Maddow just played this video of Jon Ossoff talking about Trump crime family grifter Jared Kushner. Ossoff is Maddow's guest tonight. ππͺπβοΈπ
Maddow: "Do we think our servicemen and women are in good hands? Do we think that there is care being taken in terms of what they're risking their lives for?"
I certainly did. Couldn't get enough of bowl-licking.
Ironically seen on Facebook today
Vonnegut had a character
who had to go to another planet
so he could "do good w/o doing any harm."
I think of Dr. Susan Moe,
@ the U of MN arboretum,
just up the road, who bred
the first azaleas that could
withstand harsh winters called
"Northern Lights."
Right here on Earth.
Grandpa had a
lacquered wooden sign
over his workbench:
"Too soon old &
too late smart."
We had 2 for each canoe. Had a lesson day, before going, at my grandparents campgrounds/swimming beach. Deliberately turned canoes & discuss what to do, etc ... They got better each day. I was impressed nobody tipped over in the long, rough stretch, tho each canoe had about a foot of water in it.
My Dad was a practicing Christian who believed you have to back it up with "good works." Otherwise, it's gas. He volunteered in prisons for 20 years. I was in high school. At times they seemed like little brothers to me & the other times I wanted to strangle them.
We thought it would take us 5 days. Did it in 3, riding that firehose.
They all seemed to be having a blast.
Everyone had lifejackets on, but still ...
We didn't know at the time, but while we were paddling, there were warnings on the radio to stay off the river. Everything got wet, packs, gear, clothes, tents. It's on the MN/Wisconsin border, usually peaceful going. We came around one bend & saw about a mile of foamy waves. Nobody drowned somehow.
I have to admit, she played me like a fiddle.
The school chose 10 7th graders
from hard homes.
Dad & I took them canoe camping
down the Nemekagon.
Foamy flood stages.
Scooted thru crotches in trees.
Yelling w/paddles pointed up.
Soaked to the skin.
Frick'n delinquents!
100 mlles in 3 days.
No doubt, the time of their lives.
My father-in-law
ran his own show
painting houses.
I asked him what's
his secret when dealing
with difficult customers.
"When in doubt,
be definite."
Good points. Maybe the other school options are really crappy?
I'd wanna run, naturally,
when she said the first part,
"Donny, want to help?"
but she knew my weakness,
to use against me,
& said the second part,
"You can lick the bowl."
Had me.
Tricked again.
My own mom!
That Trump's personal attorney,
Todd Blanche, is running our
Justice Department is about
as corrupt at it gets.
The guy who transferred
Ghislane Maxwell to that
Texas spa prison?
The American "justice" system
is the laughing stock of the world.
What would Jesus do? Not this. Children of LGBTQ parents need an education, too. "Blessed are the children ..."

Jeffrey Epstein had a special obsession with Harvard, which he sought to infiltrate more than any other American institution. New documents reveal what professors did to helped him get inside the university gates.
