most people's attention will be on esc nfs tonight and i get it but i could NOT miss cรขn i gymru, a welsh national song festival... honestly one of the best selections year in year out for me. 2026 was not a disappointment, some truly beautiful songs. My 2ยข on the Kant affair - words only have the power that we give them. So many women and queer folk are reclaiming the word cunt as something positive, like in the context of the song here. To say it's never appropriate and always a slur gets in the way of that reclaiming effort.

Disappointed that it was close but no cigar for Lusterka - such a distinctive vibe musically, and bringing a regional language from Poland for the first time ever would have been incredible. Would have been my fav Polish entry since, ironically, Sama. But Gaja is still high this year for me
I've at least liked, mostly loved, almost all Italian entries since they returned and nonetheless Quando sarai piccola would contend for being my favourite of the whole bunch. It exists beyond time and is just so deeply moving and sincere. I hope so much that Cristicchi says yes to ESC if he wins ๐
