Wonderful article just out on the assemblage of lipids that extremophiles use—with applications for detecting biosignatures from other worlds.

Start a business?
Lots of possibilities: hire people to do the work while you hunt down the contracts—in whatever service industry you like?

Write grants for non-profits on spec so that you get paid (10% of the grant) only if the grant comes through?

Go to uni for a higher or professional degree?

China Lifts Green Push With Plan to Double Clean Energy by 2035 China will seek to double its supply of non-fossil fuel energy by 2035, in a plan that analysts see as a boost to Beijing’s green targets.

If you are worried that China is beating us, then take a look at this. China is investing heavily in renewable energy. The USA is fighting all forms of green energy.

Reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and diversifying our energy sources could help us get ahead.

It could prevent wars over oil.

This is why I LOVE going to math conferences like the JMM. There is all this wonderful math flying around and lots of opportunity to imagine how it could apply to phenomena that no one else has thought of yet, and seems pretty obvious.

Great work!!

Close down all the ICE facilities? Someone ought to bring a case to trial if there isn't one already? These detentions fit the "cruel and unusual punishment" description. A judge could rule that these centers all need to be closed and everyone released, and they'd be well within the US Constitution.

Every single one of the astronauts who went to the moon and back on Artemis II was educated at a public school.

Thinking of the teachers who poured into Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen tonight. You helped send a kid to the moon!

Notice how the most celebrated and successful space mission in *decades* was run by at least 50% “DEI hires”—not all white men? And not even all Americans. Maybe diversity *is* strength . . .

The more I think about the 70,000 ICE incarcerated without due process the more I think we are underreacting. People are literally trapped inside for profit prisons. We need to do something.

Here is research about the possibility of making solar panels out of ice for use in cold climates.

This is the first part. The most mobile charge carrier in ice is the proton rather than the electron, so an acid (or base) layer between two will promote a voltage.

Before I became an American, I was Lebanese. Parts of my family live in Lebanon.

Anyway, you don't need those bona fides to feel this way, but what is happening in Lebanon right now is a complete outrage. The people there, who mostly are just trying to carve out a living, don't deserve this.

If your president is brazenly announcing he plans to commit war crimes, you literally have to impeach him. Is this not obvious?

So there’s astronauts on a mission called Artemis (an archer) floating around the Moon while Lilith is transiting Sagittarius (the archer), and the Moon itself is in Sagittarius…I dunno feels like the universe is playing with a theme here 🏹

And I like it.

The terrorists that attacked Iran have just bombed one of the most elite scientific institutions in the Middle East, Iran’s Sharif University of Technology in the heart of Tehran. Not a military target, they are repeatedly going after schools and medical facilities just like in Palestine.

OH my goodness!!

Don't listen to them—I mean yes, they noticed something about something in your writing, and it's good to look at that and make changes... but not necessarily in the direction they'd want. Please yourself? It will always work out well in the end.

All good...

But don't forget to keep writing to please yourself?

You're the only one who really counts,
because that's where the stories come from!

Keep it up!!!

Actually we should just give citizenship to every undocumented person in the United States who wants it. Walking over an imaginary line isn't some great moral atrocity. Making people live in the shadows as a permanent underclass absolutely IS.

People talk about “public transit” like it’s some abstract policy debate, but it’s literally the difference between someone getting to work or losing their job.

A bus that runs on time isn’t a luxury. It’s dignity, mobility, and a shot at stability.

This car costs $8500. Not a typo. Less than 10 racks. And you don't have to put gas in it.

But we can't have it in the US, because we'd rather have racism and argue about solved problems like birthright citizenship, and should Black people be allowed to vote.

So you get Cybertrucks instead. Enjoy!
