I like the idea of calling it ‘hope scrolling’ because that’s why it takes so long.

I think it was Ondansetron? Tiny pill, very effective.

At this point, you wouldn’t feel relieved??

I read the book and I was quite pleased with the movie. It’s rare that an adaptation is that solid.

I’ve done it twice now. I keep needing anti nausea meds because I can’t keep the prep down. Ugh.

Brilliant visual storytelling. The density, clarity, and even subtlety is stunning.

SCOTUS will apparently still need to hear an argument in opposition, tho.

I may have misunderstood you. You seemed to be saying that you can’t change your habits, the things you do w/o first changing your inner self? My thought is, doing even small things differently alters your circumstances, which is what allows deeper change to happen.

I think of the old GenX line, “Free your mind and your ass will follow,” but really it’s the other way around.

In therapy, in spirituality, in learning any complex discipline, the first thing you are asked is to change, slightly, what you are doing, what you are putting attention on, how you bear weight on your feet. The mind catches up only after you realize what you did has changed your circumstances.

If we want to change as artists, we alter our subject matter and we switch to new materials. How we feel about ourselves after only catches up after doing it differently for a while.

I do agree that there’s a tie there. But I don’t think change is dependent on it. My Dad didn’t change as a father until he had to parent on his own and Do the parenting differently. The role changed for him. But I would not say his inner state changed at all.

Is it just that the producers and management are primarily concerned with forces and issues that have nothing to do with making good work?

I fear we will get a lot of bad Trek for a while. And when they essentially kill the golden goose, they will sell it and it will thrive again. But it may be some time. (But then, I think this about a lot of things.)

Dang. I seem to be the only one who enjoyed the show.

I’m suggesting the way to start changing that self image comes less from making a statement, and more from the action of getting up when the 4:30am alarm goes off. My identity as a father came on with (but not before?) my actions of showing up as one.

Well, when you figure out how, I for one will be happy to see you out where the people are.

My suspicion is that one aspect of going all in on AI is it’s essentially designed to force us back to nuclear power.

This looks to me like a live action shot of the old Duck vs Bunny meme…

I’ve always liked a notion that may bump up against this? That it’s more effective to act our way into better thinking, than to think our way into better choices. We start with the doing and the mind’s plasticity adjusts to the new environment.
