Zero Latency in #Boox #eInk devices for @obsdmd when using my Ink plugin.
Still proof of concept, but it's happening.

Anyone who thinks of cooking as the killer app for augmented reality has never opened an oven door with glasses on.
Just streamed some Ink updates.
I upgraded my internet so it would be better but it's still not enough :(
It's a bit better though so I guess I'll lower my framerate till I get FTTP.

Always up for expanding networks with designer devs!
Pausing for a sec to update the command icons in Ink for @obsidian.md .
Top row is Drawing. Bottom is Writing.
#uiDesign
Two thirds of these commands will probably go away, but as long you can tell them apart for now.
#TheHotSpot on Netflix is soo good!
Great concept and well written ☺️
Watching the last season of #StarTrek Enterprise finally… Oof. It’s the mirror universe episodes.
It’s telling that Archer’s having a hard time making himself seem angrier than his non-mirror self.
Streaming now to look at the potential #markdown embed formats for Obsidian Ink handwriting.

Really glad I documented myself problem solving this thing 🤣

I’m reading a lot into one little quote about @penpot.app’s approach to AI…
And I think Penpot still has a long way to go to compete…
But I think their willingness to say their approach aligns more with ML than the newest buzzword, takes courage and brings me hope.
But still, that’s no reason to use AI (or any anticipatory design approach), to avoid building in good user tune-ability.
To be fair, that lazy design approach has been happening for a long time (most notably for me when iTunes supplanted Winamp, and then even more when Spotify supplanted iTunes), and AI does actually get this approach closer to a functional version of the promise.
AI can also be used to create one size fits all bullshit…
“Instead of giving you better controls and more intuitive customise-ability, we’re gone claim that AI will make those decisions (that you want to make) for you…
…Rather than doing the needed UI and UX work.
In doing that, you change your target audience from designers or writers to non designers or writers.
You change your focus to enabling people who DON’T want to.
That’s an okay business model and useful, but it doesn’t create better work. It creates lower barriers.
I hear over and over that AI will be good for automating the things we don’t want to do freeing us up to do the things we do…
…And then companies release features that do the designing for designers, or the writing for writers.
I really appreciate the @penpot.app team’s perspective here in regard to AI.
“Our approach is, let’s say, more in line with good-old machine learning. This will help us focus not on generating outputs, something we’re not very interested in, but on assisting in design processes.”
Also, yep, I don’t regret it
