One could argue they're not the best judges of character.

I assume it's serious based on his reaction, but really hoping I'm wrong.
They don't. Hockey players are just unexpectedly neurotic about things like that.
Mostly there due to his performance in 4 Nations.
As insane as this is, it's also instructive:
1. Placate a bully, and you'll encourage him to hit you again
2. Trump's trade deals are worthless
3. US "emergency"/natsec tariffs are a joke & clear example of why unbounded exec power is bad (cc: SCOTUS)
4. Hey Congress: DO YOUR 🤬 JOB
An updated CRS report on "Presidential 2025 Tariff Actions: Timeline and Status" is now available. Incudes sections on:
- U.S. Tariff Actions Since January 20, 2025
- Bilateral Framework Agreements
- Foreign Retaliation to U.S. Tariff Actions
Seems like a good time to invite the neighbours over for some impromptu NATO exercises.

Monthly fentanyl data from US border agency. Black line is Mexico. Yellow line is Canada.
Just putting this out there: Toronto is so close to Kitchener-Waterloo. If you're going to come to Canada, do it where you can still celebrate Octoberfest.
Why don't you pick on someone your own size? :)
Happy Canada Day from my home the next couple of years — Ankara, Turkey!
Here I bid farewell to the U.S. With some reflections on the country as I experienced it in 12 years as a foreign correspondent.

The UK will seek to restart trade negotiations with Canada, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on his way to meet his counterpart, Mark Carney as he strives to insulate Britain’s economy from the fallout of US President Donald Trump’s tariff war
As a Canadian and Bayern fan, I need to ask: did he talk to Davies before making that jersey choice?

US Court of International Trade just issued decision in case against Trump tariffs filed by Liberty Justice Center and me. All "Liberation Day"/IEEPA tariffs ruled illegal, and blocked by injunction! See link for opinion. I will have much more to say soon: www.cit.uscourts.gov/sites/cit/fi...
Would have been better to sign him, but this is not the end of the world. Wishing him the best in the Premier league and looking forward to some epic clashes in the Champions league.
While hunting for a new Washington think tank home, I decided to start a Substack column on #USCanada relations from an American POV. Comments welcome, and subscribe if you are interested. christophersands1.substack.com/p/observatio...
With all due respect to the Ambassador, "never say never" is not the President moving on. This is a live issue and he's going to be asked to comment on it until he convinces the President to stop threatening our sovereignty. The ball is in their court, not ours.
I guess I'm cheering for Edmonton. All good.
Partial credit? Admittedly, I'm reaching (somewhat uncomfortably).
Probably best not to mention Toronto FC.
At this point, responsible parents need to have "the talk" with young Leaf fans to ensure their expectations are appropriately aligned. (Aside: feel free to prove me wrong, Leafs.)

I still would have said "sorry" before turning them away. Just hardwired at this point.
We are oddly fickle about threats to our sovereignty. Maybe if they opened with a joke?
Interesting to hear someone claim that a project that's been going for almost a 160 years is unsustainable.
A one hour drive from the horse capital of the world. Makes sense given his other interests.
