If you want a more restricted platform to ship your games, develop for console or reach out to Epic or GOG to get listed on their store. You have those options if that’s what you want.

At no point does Valve tell people they can throw anything on Steam and make thousands of dollars though. You pay the fee to be listed on Steam with its millions of users. Selling and making games is difficult and the market is oversaturated, but that is not Valve’s issue to solve.

We already have three other console platforms that do that, and many PC platforms/storefronts that do that. Customers/developers should stick with those existing platforms if that’s what they prefer.
