Scotland’s greatest climate policy failure - daily m/way gridlock. Where are bus lanes and infrastructure promised by N Sturgeon in 2019? Capped bus fares are great, but fast running buses - which folk would choose because they’re faster = better. You can only give away money once. Better to invest

20% of oil & gas comes from a region now blocked off from exports due to US/ Iran war?

Not a problem -we could readily reduce energy use in our buildings by more than that -possibly up to 40% - simply by checking they're built in accordance with current Building Regs. #drylining #buildingstandards

Heat loss from a wall recorded by thermal image. Solid wall, single glazing, no radiator controls. This is common in Glasgow, Edinburgh and across Scotland. No insulation in this image - thermography is the best tool to identify this heat loss

Every picture tells a story- Solid walls, 1950s solid radiator pipes, student halls, single glazing, no radiator valves-all or nothing! So windows open in February to purge heat. Radiator pipes so hot you can see them through the walls!

Sizewell C is going to cost £50 billion, and will save 9 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

Properly installing dry-lining in new houses, avoiding air infiltration behind the plaster board, would cost nothing and produce warmer, healthier homes that are cheaper to run....

If you're waking up in a cold new house in Scotland this morning - contact www.ThermalimageUK.com

Unsealed dry-lining is the #1 cause of heat loss in new homes in the UK.

All the energy from Sizewell C will simply go to replace the excess energy lost from poorly built new homes.

Hi Dale - I also worked out that the problem with unsealed dry-lining in new houses, is so common and causes so much heat loss, that ALL the energy generated from Sizewell C , will simply go to compensate for a problem that could be avoided by better site management, and some pre-occupancy testing.

"build tight, ventilate right." This dry-lining leakage though is uncontrolled infiltration, not ventilation. You still need to properly ventilate the homes properly, I 100% agree.

We could literally save £50 billion - or tell me where my numbers are wrong? If you've got an interest in this issue, please e-mail tom@thermalimageuk.co.uk to join our meeting on November 21st. Thanks

It's totally absurd! - Governments in London & Edinburgh are so obsessed with not upsetting "business" - aka the plc housebuilders - that they are prepared to do anything to avoid properly inspecting new homes for heat loss. Such a boring, unsexy task - but one that pays massive dividends.

...and you don’t create nuclear waste, or spend £50 billion! You also avoid the carbon cost of building a nuclear power station, and giving the Chinese access to our infrastructure. Why is no-one interested in building quality homes? What's not to like?!

This would ALSO avoid locking in 9 million tonnes of CO2 annually (300k new homes forecast to be built annually, houses lasting for 60 years. 0.5 tonnes of excess CO2 per house per annum).....

If you're interested blower door testing to identify building air leakage - we are UK suppliers for Retrotec. Watch this video & give us a call on 01357 520557 for more info.

Combined with smoke & thermal imaging blower door is a great diagnostic tool.

In industrial/ commercial units, air tightness tests can fail not due to the building fabric, but due to leaky roller doors. Using retrotec fans (-ve pressure), and thermal imaging (and smoke - not shown) leakage points can readily be located.

CLIMATE ACTION STRATHAVEN Making Strathaven a leader in environmental sustainability.

Hi Patrick - don't forget community transport operators, like www.CAStrathaven.org running the 3C service from Strathaven & Stonehouse in to Glasgow - transporting 15,000 pax per month, and taking thousands of car journeys off the road. It's not one size fits all. Come and meet with us! - thanks
