because most doctors are not properly trained on ADHD so the majority of adults with ADHD go under diagnosed or misdiagnosed and almost no ADHD people complain to their politicians and media about this and demand all doctors have mandatory CME courses on ADHD
no one will no one else cares about us

finally reading my big how to adhd book and how the hell has it taken 30 years for me to get diagnosed. i am a walking stereotype i have no original thought in my head i am everything in the book who the hell is even me personally who am i 😟
and I mean really huge rates so huge that it shows how ADHD ignorant and ADHD stigmatizing doctors are that they’re not doing mandatory screening for ADHD and people who have diabetes
people with type one and type two diabetes have higher rates of ADHD as in huge rates. We also have higher rates of A1c and diabetic ketoacidosis.
And ADHD will make it harder for you to manage diabetes or any other chronic condition unless you know how to manage your ADHD reasonably well
Never occurred to me that my ADHD was a BIG causal factor on my self-induced Diabetes

So, I have just been officially diagnosed with ADHD and I feel weirddd I don't know what to doooooo
and sadly, some people think because they read it in the media. It must be true
some more ignorance and dumbassery spread about ADHD.
Which frankly has more than enough spread as it is.
it’s people who don’t know anything about ADHD having the delusion that they know ADHD and showing people with ADHD that they are ignorant and they should not be taken seriously about ADHD at all
Sadly, media often likes quoting, loud, confident, but ignorant narcissist, versus more quiet experts

What is it with "ADHD advice" literally just being "Apply yourself" or "Make a schedule and stick to it" or "Just take some meds and make yourself focus" or some other ableist bullshit?
Listening to music helps boost dopamine. I was quoted on CNN about this.
It can help us by grounding ourselves with a bit of stimulation to be able to do other things

I have ADHD, among other stuff, and I can't emphasize enough just how much music helps me LOCK IN. Writing, chores, painting, anything that requires focus and sustained attention. Brain-heavy tasks. It's never easy, and I don't stay on any single activity for more than about an hour without...1/3
You’re welcome. I have 600 + pages more on adult ADHD on three different websites if you want some more reading material
I self medicate my ADHD with information and learning.
random person: I Must have adhd too! I took one of my friends dex tablets and cleaned the house and did my tax and was up all night.
Me: No. Come back to me after you take 4 of those babies and then have a nap - Then I'll agree with you.
Curiosity is a wonderful solvent
I’m not a direct parent but when my godson is having a moment where he’s not acting the best, instead of immediately scolding him.. I ask him what’s on his mind, and if his mind is so full. From me doing that we learned he had ADHD. Best hack 🙂
With ADHD, "out of sight, out of mind" isn't a memory problem. It's a visualization problem. When something isn't in front of you, the mental image of it genuinely fades. You're not forgetful. You can't form the picture of where it is.

Teen's death prompts push to ban energy drink sales to #Quebec youth under 16
After Zachary Miron died, schools, unions and his family have joined forces to demand restrictions
www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Energy drinks should be for adults only. Not a fan at all but 18 under kids shouldn’t have access. Unknown heart issues or like this poor boy having a medication reaction. A common prescribed medicine for AdHd etc kids.
Restrictions are the way to go.

After I was diagnosed with ADHD one of the most valuable things I learned was the concept of working with my brain, instead of trying to force it to function in neurotypical ways.
Example: cognitive heavy tasks have to be done in the morning & boring tasks later with anime on to help me persist
Not therapy but, “if you can do it in less than two minutes then just do it now” has saved my ADHD brain a lot of stress
