I wrote about how US media is laundering authoritarian anti-gender politics through a frame of viewing restrictions on trans people as being led by progressive European countries rather than the reality that it is illiberal autocratic states.

Acrylic painting of abstract invasive surgery with multiple sets of latex gloves hands holding open a cavity revealing a variety of organs, pink, purple, yellow, and red. At the center of the opening stands a little yellow proud duckling while a a metal instrument inspects and prods the area its little webbed feet.
Happy TDOV to all my trans sibs.
Keep on trucking.
Keep on holding each other up.
don't get the discord subpoenaed
A friendly reminder for this and all Supreme Court decision days
here is a story we reported this story two years ago that remains very relevant.
reposting this article i wrote about offline trans networks for TDoV:
we have to reject the failed politics of online visibility and commit to a more radical approach that emphasizes proximity, interpersonal relationships, and strategic obscurity.
Liberal responses to this, while well meaning, often make me sick.
“Well just piss on the floor then!” “This is a distraction.” “What will their reaction be when a passing woman enters a mens bathroom, that will sure show them.”
Like none of this makes it better. It’s not funny, it’s not a gotcha.
Hey, you should read this @parkermolloy.com piece on the collapsing of what is largely an intersex/DSD story into an anti-trans culture war frame.

This is my sixth year posting this
The United States map with some state colored blue, pink, and white in the order of transgender pride flag. There are airplanes flying on the map. Next to that is a banner that read "State-Specific Email Alerts! Law by Law, State by State"
We are constantly being bombarded with information making it hard to keep up on the latest developments in transgender rights.
This is why I helped create state level email alerts for transgender rights policy and law changes.

there are tons of amazing trans academics out there, many of whom i link to in the piece!! :)))

Two anti-trans initiatives have just made it onto the Colorado Ballot, pending any additional challenges.
They were backed by political arms of the Catholic Church.
The backers called trans people "a plague"
Now, they'll go directly to voters.

1. Missouri appears to be forging ahead with 3 bathroom bans in public buildings across the state.
They heard 3 bills in a single night on the topic.
Lawmakers are worried that we could see what happened to Kansas happen there too.
The latest from our writer S. Baum.
Remember that Crenshaw's loss to Toth is nothing worth celebrating. Toth has denounced GAC for anyone under age 26, said providing trans people w/ accurate government ID was a loophole being exploited by sex offenders & wants to criminalize trans ppl's updated IDs as "gender identity fraud."
I know trans men are men because one trans guy called in as an expert witness said something to the tune of, “Now what these bills do do — ha ha, doodoo” in front of a packed committee hearing 💩
One trans masc Missourian, who would be forced into the women’s restroom under these laws: How would you feel about seeing me follow your little girl into the women’s room?
Timothy Faber, who earlier in the night argued against summer camp disaster preparedness laws (post-Camp Mystic tragedy) on religious freedom grounds also arguing in favor of the anti-trans bills.
Lana, who transitioned as a teen (and even won homecoming queen!!!) talks about how sex segregated bathrooms impacted her as a student.
Rep. Weber: “Would you feel comfortable in a men’s restroom?”
Lana: No.
Andddd Phelps misgendered them again kept getting interrupted by others until he got it right. Thank u Brandon very nice
Thomas pointed out that localities would foot the bill so priv. schools can discriminate. Also asked Phelps what cops should do if someone calls 911 if they think they see a trans person in the “wrong” place. Phelps: idk, im not law enforcement!
Less than 20 minutes in, Hausman has misgendered Rep. Thomas (they/them).
Trans Missourians are on edge after watching what happened in Kansas, their neighboring state, which recently revoked trans Kansans’ state IDs if it didn’t match their assigned gender at birth.

Among other things, if passed into law, these bills could est. a private right of action for ppl who allege an institution let trans ppl use the bathroom aligned w/ their gender identity; protect private schools that discriminate against trans ppl; enshrine sex/gender definitions into MO law; & more
I’m live posting through tonight’s hearings in Missouri over a series of anti-LGBT bills: HB 1893, HB 2075, and HB 2536. Bills not yet heard; more TK.

Under a new policy released Thursday, the Trump Administration will test conversion therapy on trans people in prisons. It explicitly states that it aims to help trans people “recover,” all the while forcibly detransitioning them both medically and socially.
