NEW: We caught a site run by a buzzy PR firm ripping off local and national journalism at an almost incomprehensible scale -- it's like a fully automatic machine gun spraying bullets of pure plagiarism directly into the internet

I've tried, it's solid but $$ and sorta hard to find.
(to clarify, that specific map layer that I shared with you is usually very up to date: generally, edits to OSM data are typically reflected in that map layer within several hours or a few days at most).
villages are still there in OSM data itself according to www.openstreetmap.org/search?query... (although I do not immediately know whether any have been recently removed or if they were never added to the map).
You mean the shotspotter from this week?
Y'all are gonna be real upset when you got drones circling your neighborhood all day and you don't know if it's delivering a burrito, taking pretty pictures, entertaining teen FPV enthusiasts, peeping on your children, snitching to the cops, or exploding a gas station.
I mean this is the formulation that has delivered us the beautiful @rooster.info
Are those emails showing up in your friends' inboxes ((instead of their spam boxes)? If so, change your email password ASAP (if not, wouldn't hurt to change your email password)
But behind the scenes, Israeli officials have conveyed a more targeted message. In private calls to local leaders across southern Lebanon, Israeli military officials have assured several Christian and Druse communities that they could remain in the evacuation zone. They have pressed them, however, to force out any Lebanese from neighboring Shiite Muslim communities who have sought refuge among them as Israeli bombardment flatten Shiite towns, according to local Christian, Druse and Shiite leaders who spoke to The New York Times. The Shiites make up the majority of southern Lebanon.

Might break down & finally write a thorough guide of how to write good link text for #accessibility
(With plenty of examples!!!)
for my coworkers. I don't want to criticize specific ppl, but so many online guides only include basic steps like "don't use click here" 1/? #webdev #a11y
lots of orgs just need a little, tiny bit of custom software.
A screenshot of QGIS showing a monochrome raster, overlaid with yellow polygon outlines. The window for the zonal statistics tool can be seen.
A monochrome raster that shows very fuzzy patches of white and grey. Atop it is a red outline of the state of Michigan.
New tutorial post on the blog: "Urban Relativity," discussing my method for comparing city populations with their surroundings, which I sometimes use to help decide which cities to show on a map, and which to leave off. somethingaboutmaps.wordpress.com/2026/03/23/u...

Although they won't sign at halftime, generally just after the game.
hanging out above the "player tunnels" where players come in & out at halftime though not all arenas have them, looks like carmichael might not have them!). ask an usher where the player tunnels are, they should help. (Btw, Carmichael arena's newest photo on its wikipedia article is from 2006!)
Y’all the Forward Libraries conference that @eviedc.bsky.social presented at this week wins the prize for best conference swag of all time, bar none. There was a jamming possum pin too but I dunno where it is
Data Organization in Spreadsheets Karl W. Broman & Kara H. Woo Pages 2-10 | Received 01 Jun 2017, Accepted author version posted online: 29 Sep 2017, Published online: 24 Apr 2018 1. Introduction 2. Be Consistent 3. Choose Good Names for Things 4. Write Dates as YYYY-MM-DD 5. No Empty Cells 6. Put Just One Thing in a Cell 7. Make it a Rectangle 8. Create a Data Dictionary 9. Save the Data in Plain Text Files ABSTRACT Spreadsheets are widely used software tools for data entry, storage, analysis, and visualization. Focusing on the data entry and storage aspects, this article offers practical recommendations for organizing spreadsheet data to reduce errors and ease later analyses. The basic principles are: be consistent, write dates like YYYY-MM-DD, do not leave any cells empty, put just one thing in a cell, organize the data as a single rectangle (with subjects as rows and variables as columns, and with a single header row), create a data dictionary, do not include calculations in the raw data files, do not use font color or highlighting as data, choose good names for things, make backups, use data validation to avoid data entry errors, and save the data in plain text files.
Every day is a good day for sharing one of the most useful papers about research data ever written. PLEASE get your people to understand and follow this advice.

i Should mention that lower time was specifically for cauliflower cc @socio-steve.bsky.social
Cauliflower is also a good one; although if you cut the pieces smaller, (like less than typical frozen broccoli size), they'll finish in ~20-25 minutes (also paprika is a good addition too)
Many are the repositories whose digitized collections are held together by paper clips & twine paid for with an uncertain budget that may not get renewed in the next fiscal year because there’s long been a zeal to “just” digitize things but not to invest in their careful documentation & maintenance.
this should be all of them (From openstreetmap; please roast if there are any errors) - umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/cleve... - and the source geometry file (geojson) gist.githubusercontent.com/skorasaurus/...
do you need a map of all of the brick streets, i can get you one.
journal.code4lib.org/articles/18489 may be a little bit of what you're looking for, anecdotally, i can share that at my library, we had been hit by tencent IPs (although they're a tech conglomerate, they have an AI tech)
krebsonsecurity.com/2026/01/the-... has more info (this botnet in particular does more than just AI scraping)
