Moldova's pro-EU party wins vote mired in claims of Russian interference The election was seen as critical for Moldova's EU path, and President Maia Sandu warned the country's future was in danger.

Moldovan democracy stands strong. We can all hope that other European democracies can show the same resolve and resist Putin apologists and Kremlin stooges.

If you agree with me, make sure you've signed the petition to stop sewage dumping:

Great to join Surfers Against Sewage in Bournemouth this weekend.

Our beaches are for everyone to enjoy, and our coastal environment is fragile. To keep people and wildlife safe, water companies must stop sewage dumping and clean up their mess.

Sickened to see the march in Central London today. I feel concerned for friends and loved ones in the city, and the stories I've heard from them today are awful.

I take comfort in the fact it was much smaller than the far right had hoped for, England is not with them. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

Complete lie with a video from 2015. What a charlatan.

He will fan the flames of thuggery and disorder with lies, only to then sit back and say "I told you so" when something horrid happens. Patriotism is alien to him.

Labour's position is that the UK will recognise Palestine, but only as a punishment for Israel.

This is so strange. Why does Palestine only deserve state recognition if Palestinians are so cruelly mistreated?

A brilliant showing by team GBR at home in Portsmouth. They absolutely dominated the first day of racing, secured their place in the final, and went on to push the Kiwis hard for the trophy.

Proud of my city and my team today. Well done Portsmouth and team GBR.

Bang on. The housing market is not immune to supply and demand mechanics. If we want to lower the cost of housing - both to rent and to buy - we must deliver lots more homes.

It's time for a grown up conversation about how we do that without compromising on quality and the environment.

HS2 line to be delayed again with no new date given The Transport Secretary is expected to say there's "no reasonable way to deliver" the line on time.

Anyone who has worked in the private sector knows delays mean £££.

The fact that this critical infrastructure project is taking so long is precisely why it is costing us. What about the British system is snarling this project up at every single stage?

NYC mayoral candidate Brad Lander arrested by ICE The city's chief finance officer Brad Lander was detained as he guided a defendant out of immigration court on Tuesday. He was later released.

A masked mob extrajudicially detains an opposition politician with the blessing of the government, simply for asking to see a warrant for a constituent's arrest.

The single strongest argument against the death penalty is that only 4% of us have 'a lot' of confidence in the judicial system.

Even among those people, who could believe the system is not capable of making a terrible mistake? Why should the state have the power to kill when it too is fallible?

So proud to share our city with UK Pride this weekend, and to march with so many friends, colleagues and allies.

Pride and community are so important in the face of an increasingly challenging political environment.

LGBT+ people are welcome here and free to be who we are.

81 years ago today, the heroes of D-Day showed extraordinary bravery and sacrifice. We're proud of the role our city played in D-Day and the hospitality residents of Portsmouth showed to those going to fight.

Sounds like a job for their DOGE team, doesn't it?

I will be on one or two Pride marches this month. More than in past years, these marches are a protest. Yes, they're an opportunity to be happy with friends in a space that is safe, but fundamentally they are a demand for change.

I hope friends and colleagues here will join me.

This week is the first of Pride 2025. This year is no celebration. The rights of LGBT+ people are under sustained attack, most worringly from a Labour government.

LGBT+ people in our community do not feel safe in their ordinary lives. They feel things are getting more dangerous.

Terrible to read about the incident in Liverpool yesterday. I feel there is nothing I can add which others have not already said. My thoughts are with those injured and their loved ones.

Todays rental price statistics show the rate at which rents in the private rented sector have been increasing in recent years is out of control.

Since Jan2020 rents have shot up by £300 a month, up 31%, over 2.5x the rate of growth in the preceding 5 years (12% growth)

These are real people with the right to be treated with decency. They are courageous to move across the world to better our country and themselves.

They deserve respect just like anyone else, not to be singled out like this by a Labour Prime Minister for political means.

The PM's 'island of strangers' speech is at best clumsy, at worst careless, divisive and echoing a dark past.

Some of our vital services such as social care depend on talented, caring individuals from around the world to help. I'm proud to have called them colleagues.

My grandmas were immigrants, my mum & sisters in law are immigrants; my sister & nephews are migrants. My kids study maths, Shakespeare, dance, act & score tries alongside the kids of immigrants. My dad’s life was saved by immigrants. Immigrants have made us richer, wiser, stronger

Feels like this + kicking social care reform into the long grass is a perfect storm for social care sector. In turn, that could lead to catastrophe in the NHS.

Disability benefit cuts to hit 700,000 families already in poverty, DWP forecasts show Exclusive: Internal government forecasts obtained by the Guardian reveal ‘truly shocking’ effects of planned cuts

This is deeply disturbing.

Not only are 250,000 more people being pushed into poverty by Labour's welfare changes, but 700,000 people who are already in poverty are on the sharp end.
