Had a great weekend running various bits of the ##BobGrahamRound route. Climbed Blencathra on Friday evening & tried the "parachute" descent off the summit. Then we ran legs 4&5 on Saturday & leg 2 on Sunday, bumping into others recceing the route & discussed route choices. Ran 78km & 6000m ascent.

This rings very true. Admin freezes are short term fixes but cost more in the long run. Teams also just work around it by rebadging admin jobs as clinical ones if they can.

One month to go until I attempt the #BobGrahamRound! My final weekender is coming up. I've run all the legs in training, except leg 4 (Wasdale to Honister), which I'll be running on Saturday. Hoping next month I get further than Gt Gable. I'm feeling more confident than last time, with my Spine...

ALT: a man with a beard is sitting in a chair .
Very Ukrainian accent:
"Oh Mr Vance, is it hard to negotiate peace?
Is it difficult to come to a deal when both sides have fundamentally irreconcilable positions on key issues?
Does not being able to trust your counterparty make things tricky?
Why do you hate peace, Mr Vance?"

Runner standing on top of Sca Fell. Mix of cloud and blue skies. Surrounded by rocks of the summit shelter. Wasdale can be seen in the distance
My phone is throwing up photos of my recce trips to the Lakes 3 years ago..this one is on the summit of Sca Fell, with Wastwater just becoming visible thru the clouds. The weather had been misty up until then. I didn't end up completing the BG Round. Partly due to choosing to get from Scafell Pike

๐ข I am delighted that from 1st May, I'll be working as the Divisional Medical Director for Liverpool Women's Hospital.
This follows a major reorganisation of my Trust, with the Liverpool Women's & The Royal Liverpool forming a hospital partnership within Liverpool University Hospitals Group.

Welsh Ambulance Service announces freeze on newly-qualified paramedic recruitment
The Welsh Ambulance Service said newly qualified paramedics would not be offered roles this year due to
"Students in their final year of paramedic science degrees said they have been advised to apply for jobs in Canada, New Zealand and Australia."
Absolutely batshit.

We had amazing ๐ weather today for our walk up Blencathra via Souther Fell. Good views of Sharp Edge. Then, we walked to Mungrisdale Common, Bannerdale Crags & Bowscale Fell before dropping back down. 5 Wainwrights in all, #122, 123 & 124 for me. Nice craggy edge between Bannerdale Crags & Bowscale.

View from Castle Crag down towards Grange and Derwent Water. Cloudy sky. Trees I the foreground and rolling hills in the distance
We walked up the tiniest Wainwright today, Castle Crag (290m high). Despite the small height, there are great views over Derwent Water towards Keswick & towards Honister. It was gifted to the nation after World War 1, (as were Gt Gable and Scafell Pike). Wainwright no. 121 for me.

Also, got a free burger from The Round in Keswick, as they had a deal for people who ran 8200m of ascent in March.

Screenshot of Strava route in 3D, showing a map of a run route from Keswick to Honister and back over the tops.
I finished March with a loop from Keswick to Honister, then back on the 5th leg of the #BobGrahamRound. Not many views from the tops, but it was dry!
Happy with my training in March, despite 2 weeks off with illness. Ran 240km & (more importantly) climbed 12,000m of ascent. 6 weeks to go!

Back to Bob Graham training today, although the weather had other ideas, throwing a bit of everything at us. Rain, hail, snow, and plenty of headwinds which blew us off our feet. Decided to cut it short & headed down to Easedale Tarn and then Grasmere.

Summit of Bleaberry Fell mix of sun and cloud over a distant lake and hills
We bagged two Wainwright's summits today - Walla Crag and Bleaberry Fell. Number 120 for me. Mixed weather with hail/rain/sunny spells and looks like there is still snow on the tops. Great views over Derwent Water and the Helvellyn range.

Runners heading along a brick tunnel
Been off running for 2 weeks due to a persistent virus.
Started back with Keswick Parkrun. A beautiful route along a trail, over bridges and through tunnels. Scenic views of snow-draped flanks of Blencathra. Also bumped into an ex-resident Doctor who worked with me back in 2013.

Much of the landscape is in the shade with the Langdale Pikes and part of the tarn illuminated by the sun.
Top to bottom: blue sky with clouds, fells, Blea Tarn with reflections of the fells and sky, the shoreline with some small rocks and grass in the shade.
